Wouldn't rent again

Dishwasher wasn't emptied. Floor overall needed swept. Hallway bathroom had hair and dirt behind the door and all along the floorboard. We also had quite a few run-ins with spiders. Regardless we felt the house was overpriced as well and would not rent again.

Disappointed

We were disappointed with the property and location. It was our first time visiting OBX and therefore not familiar with the area. The house appeared clean on the surface but found the hallway bathroom and especially the bathtub was not very clean, perhaps it’s just old and stained but seemed unsanitary to use. Also once I stripped the bed I had slept on found the mattress pad had urine stains on it, that was extremely unsanitary and disgusting. The area did not seem safe, a few houses down there were a group of men that hung around outside most of the day and evenings with several dogs running around, I didn’t feel comfortable going for a walk. We ended up spending most of our time in the Southern Shores and Duck areas.

August 2024 Stay

The entire "walkout" area was unusable and this was frustrating because the main reason we chose this property was so we could enjoy this space with our dog. The ping pong table was warped and unusable. The couch was dirty and had multiple holes chewed in the cushions, to the point where my wife sat on the couch and 20+ bugs flew up in the air. The backyard as a whole was unkept with weeds and leaves everywhere, which left us uncomfortable with the dog walking around the backyard (particularly when we encountered multiple snapping turtles in the backyard) . Inside, for the most part, was acceptable. The porch was a great space, and the house was within walking distance of trails along the sound and quick driving distance of the beach. There were a number of small items that were just frustrating due to the amount of money we paid for this rental. All of the air vents are incredibly dusty which I ended up cleaning myself so my pregnant wife wasn't breathing in dust all week. The dishwasher was still running when we got there and we had to unload everything. The quality and quantity of the household (paper towel, toilet paper) were like I was staying in a one star motel. Would it really kill you to buy some decent toilet paper? I certainly understand this is a beach cottage and wasn't expecting a sparkling clean atmosphere but based on the numerous items listed above we will not be returning, which is disappointing considering the potential of the place.

Great cottage

I love how you renovated this cottage- it just really, really needs a grill!😩 The bed in the master bedroom is incredibly comfortable.
