We traveled to Jekyll Island for a special anniversary. I searched for weeks to find the perfect room. We were very excited to enjoy our special time in our Oceanfront room, which we had reserved, and obviously paid for and expected. However, when we arrived, not more than an hour after check-in time, we were given a different room. I know from the pictures that we were given an ocean view room, which is a downgrade. Not only could we barely see the ocean over the Sand dunes and the trees, but our slider was broken and made the loudest, screeching noise , when opening and closing. Also, have no idea what the problem was but it smelled like swamp water in the bathroom and especially while showering. Immediately upon checking in I went to the front desk to say that we were not at all happy with our room, and it was not what we reserved. I was told with no apologies that there were no other rooms.
We will definitely be thinking twice before booking with Marriott in the future.
