Absolutely wonderful experience on a beautiful property with the most hospitable hosts. The cottage is perfect - clean and comfortable, we felt at home right away. We will be back for stays, and events, for many years to come. Thank you so much!
Wonderful stay in the cottage on a beautiful farm with very gracious hosts, Chris and Rachael. We received a warm welcome and tour of the house and farm upon arrival. The house was clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed (sheets, coffee, towels). They brought us rods to fish. The cats and animals were a nightlight with the kid. Lovely to wake up each day and walk around the farm. Highlight was staying for the Thursday dinner. Thank you so much!
We had the most wonderful time! We arrived during the Thursday dinner and could drop our bags off and walk over for dinner and drinks. We then relaxed outside watching fireflies. My two boys were excited to see the animals and had a wonderful time feeding them and petting them. The house is so charming and exactly the right size. We will definitely be back!
We enjoyed the cottage for two perfect days and nights on Mother's Day weekend with the bonus of a farm-to-table dinner and lovely music in the pasture under a beautiful clear sky.
There is magic happening on this idyllic family farm:
1. Sunset began with a golden glow and lasted a full three hours. I credit the 360-degree horizon and big sky.
2. Were the roosters respectful with crowing times or were we oblivious to their crows because we were having the purest sleep?
3. Breakfast was harvested all within fifty feet of our door; eggs from the chicken coop and spinach, tarragon and green garlic from the garden. All six of us ate at table together with the front door open to the view of sunshine on the golden pasture.
All was made possible by a delightful, welcoming host family and their charming farmyard animals. We wholeheartedly recommend a visit to Locavore Farm to enjoy the company of the human, donkey, cow, pig, chicken, sheep, doggie and kitty residents, and to be inspired by an education on regenerative farming and permaculture food production. Visit, relax, slow down, and feel true peaceful connection.
Stayed overnight for a Dinner event on the property. The property is very charming and the property owners are great people. We would absolutely stay again!
Relaxing getaway from fast paced urban life! No TV No WiFi just good people, adorable animals, and prosperous land! Eggs picked fresh from the coop with vegetables from the garden And Thursday Harvest Hangout was dinner with family, friends, locals, visitors and live entertainment! Rachel and her husband Chris were incredibly hospitable and refreshingly down to earth!Highly recommended!
The cottage was absolutely perfect down to every last detail. It's appropriately furnished in what I would call upscale farmhouse style. Everything is done with good taste, creativity and style. It's new and clean, with every amenity you can think of provided to you.
This farmstay is a delight: the owners are welcoming and very warm, keen to make you comfortable and relaxed in enjoying their property. Wonderful, imaginative, fresh food was served as well as happy times walking the property and visiting with the animals. Owners are working hard - and effectively - on a regenerative program of husbandry and generation of food that us of the film “Best Little Farm”. Truly “Best” farm stay in Illinois! Location is great for Quilt Barn tours and Kankakee Riverfront as well.
