We cannot fault this hotel at all. Fantastic facilities, very helpful and friendly staff in all areas. We leave today and have already booked our return.
The rooms were large and the balcony had a nice sea view. The amenities are tired and can be refreshed or renovated. The staff were excellent and very helpful.
Great location with direct access to the sea. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive. The rooms are beautiful and breakfast buffet has a wide selection to choose from. Overall highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break and treat for something special.
Second time we’ve stayed at this hotel! Would stay again. Clean with everything you need. Buffet breakfast is incredible. Views are top notch. Staff is helpful
We had a wonderful stay at this hotel! Lovely property is a great location walkable down to town. Our room was spacious and had a beautiful view! All our meals were delicious and the staff friendly. My favorite part was the selection of gorgeous places to sit by sea and ease to go for a swim in the refreshing water.
Great location and a very beautiful rose garden for breakfast and lovely dinners. Rooms are large, but a little older; however, still very nice.
The hotel food and drinks are VERY expensive. We are from the United States, and you can expect prices as much as New York City and Los Angeles for food and drinks.
The staff was mostly friendly but not over-the-top accommodating. Morning staff at breakfast seemed irritable, and the front desk was hit or miss with friendliness
Pure luxury in a fantastic location for exploring Funchal. Couldn't fault the hotel, everything was exquisite. We booked a superior room which meant we had a few extra perks (like having a separate breakfast restaurant with table service to name one) and the seam view balcony was huge. Overall we fully recommend the Cliff Bay
Fantastic hotel and stay. All staff members were extremely friendly and helpful. I was even surprised with a cake on my birthday :). The hotel bars and breakfast were all great. There are many restaurants within walking distance and there are also several restaurants at the hotel although I did not visit those. The pools are very nice, the ocean access is great for an island with few beaches, and the ocean views are lovely. There is music every night at the bar and plenty to do at the hotel! The room itself was very clean and refreshed frequently. This is a 5 star hotel for a reason
We had a great time at the Cliff Bay! We absolutely enjoyed every minute of our stay there. From a birthday celebration at Avista restaurant to our rooms' comfort and stunning views to delicious buffet breakfast every morning to spending time at the pool. No little detail was spared and the quality of service was superb. The staff made sure we had a great time and had everything we needed. We will definitely stay at this property again when we come back to Madeira. Thank you for your hospitality!

Liked: Property conditions & facilities
I travelled here with my two children
Breakfast was great
Pool area great
Food at their restaurants was pretty sub par/overpriced but deserts were good
Hotel staff were knocking on door for water/house cleaning very early 8/9am - it was really annoying as we were sleeping -
Also would knock on door when my kids were sleeping at 9:30pm asking for turndown service
Staff are pleasant it just seems overpriced
Rooms outdated
View incredible though
My stay was very relaxing and peaceful. Everyone is different, but I would have preferred a buffet in the evening instead of a restricted section from a menu list. Overall, it wasn’t bad at all
