Bear Mountain Lodge

Bear Mountain Lodge

10/10 Excellent
"The lodge was awesome! We wish we would have had time to stay longer to use all the fun and available amenities. To get to the lodge is the only drawback. The long, unpaved road was not desirable with a few potholes to maneuver. This is not a lodge issue directly, but county/state maintenance problem. When you get to the property, the drive is nice asphalt for 2 minutes up to the buildings. We arrived around 8 pm and were immediately met by Josh to welcome us and get us to our room. We stayed in the black bear room just off the entrance, which made it very convenient. The room was very neat and cozy. The bathroom was roomy and I thoroughly enjoyed the shower. The bed was a little soft for our preference, but we still slept fine. Josh showed us the open kitchen and living areas to be enjoyed by the guests. The kitchen island was very nice and two refrigerators were available for all. We walked around inside briefly before going to bed around 9 pm, by which time the entire lodge was quiet. By hitting the road early, we missed using so many things that would have made the stay even better. The view out back was picturesque. Josh made sure we had coffee for the road, and we met the free-roaming chickens and rooster before driving away. I highly recommend this place for those willing to get away from the big city. It’s definitely worth the drive!!"

"We loved this place, not least because our River View room gave us a beautiful outlook. We even saw a seal swimming past. The two beds were big and comfy, the room had been renovated and a real person on reception made a nice change. I strongly recommend this place."

WOW! Amazing property with an amazing view. You will never want to leave!

10/10 Excellent
"Just the perfect cottage, right on the ocean, with a walkable beach out front. Every morning, I would walk the dog (you could go as far as 3/4 mi, for a 1 1/2 mi roundtrip), then would come back & make breakfast. We were blessed with perfect weather all week, so we sat out on the deck most days for both breakfast & cocktail hour! Full-length windows/sliding doors covered 3 walls of the livingroom, so many hours were spent watching the sun glisten off the water, as the lobster boats made their way in & out of the harbor. The cottage was sparkling clean & fully-stocked with supplies, as well as pots, pans, glassware, etc. The mattress was very comfortable. There was a full-sized washer & dryer. We found a nice wooded walk on Beals Island that was almost fairy-like, with its pine trees & moss. You need to drive about 1/2 hour to find some finer restaurants, but if you like to cook, you would barely need to leave the cottage. Perfect spot to curl up with a glass of wine & a good book or to see the most stunning sunsets! The people I met were very friendly. Be sure to check out the Fisherman's Pottery gift shop on Beals Island, run by Jennifer & her Dad."

Charming Newly-Renovated Waterfront Cottage in Lubec

Charming Newly-Renovated Waterfront Cottage in Lubec

10/10 Excellent
"Charming and serene, this cottage was the perfect place for a relaxing and rejuvenating trip to Lubec. We spent most of our "down" time outside or on the comfortable and cozy sun porch. The beds and bedding were very comfortable and the cottage was exceptionally clean and tidy. It had everything we needed and more (including laundry detergent). This location was a great jumping off point for day hikes in the area and a day trip over to Campobello Island, NB. We spent four nights here, and our only regret is that we didn't book a longer stay here!"

"Thank you Jenny, this was a beautiful vacation. Your house is super comfortable, had everything we needed, very quiet with lovely views of the woodland and bay. Nature abounds. Osprey, Eagles, Pileated woodpeckers, Kingfishers, Terns, Sand pipers (or Plovers not sure which), Herons and we were honored by experiencing the "United Federation of Seagulls Annual Convention" on the mid flats while we were there (LOL)...what a racket but lots of entertainment. We spent so much time on the lower deck just watching the natural spectacles unfold. So many beautiful walks in the area and the bold coast is stunning. We will see you next year."
