Top Dongorim Hotel Reviews

Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Goa

8/10 Good

"Had a few teething problems but once flagged these were addressed (room not really as advertised. Partial sea view was essentially garden view). Not sure this hotel lives up to the quality we had at two other Taj resorts before arriving here. Onsite restaurants are fairly average so would recommend heading out for dinner to nearby local places for better cuisine and much more reasonable pricing. Eg first night there, only 2 families in their signature restaurant were dining so there was no ambience. They had one bottle of white wine in the whole restaurant (ie nothing from the menu). This was flagged the next day and we were told would be addressed but we only ate once more in the restaurant after that. The rooms are a little dated but the overall resort is really nice. Pool area is great, lots of space and sun beds. Overall, enjoyed our stay but next time would probably try elsewhere"

Heritage Village Resort & Spa Goa

10/10 Excellent

"We stayed here for 5 nights. It’s a beautiful resort, well maintained, nice pool bar and very good restaurants. The spa amenities were great and beach is just a 5 minute walk where you can relax with a cold drink at the starfish beach shack! And the best part is the stuff, super friendly and helpful, would definitely come back!"

Taj Holiday Village Resort & Spa

8/10 Good

"We stayed here for 1 night before travelling back to Mumbai, me and my 11 yo son. The hotel is on beautiful grounds and spread out with lots of low rise bungalows. We were given a 1st floor room with a beautiful view of the sea. If you want a week beach holiday, this would be a lovely place, you could stay here happily. The room was lovely and clean. There were a few bungalows being renovated so it would have been upsetting to be in one of the bungalows nearby with drilling and building works going on all day. Having been to 6 other hotels on our stay we had come accustomed to the amazing service in India, so was disappointed with the service at this hotel, as this is supposed to be a 5 star hotel. At breakfast we were totally ignored, at the pool bar we stood there for about 15 minutes waiting, the pool staff weren't overly friendly. We came here as it listed a lot of activities for my son to do, but most of these weren't on, so there was just a zipline and wall climb, which took about 15 minutes. Couldn't find the football and no zorbing in the pool. Prices for food and drink here were extremely expensive, especially when you aren't getting the service. You can walk along the beach and there are lots of restaurants to eat at. Outside is a baskins robbins and we ate at a lovely restaurant outside the gates by the roundabout. Overall it is probably a nice place to stay for a family holiday if you get all inclusive but we wouldn't stay again."

Ronil Goa - a JdV by Hyatt hotel

10/10 Excellent

"Just stayed at the hotel for 10 nights and loved it. The property is very clean and well maintained. Rooms are a little on the small side so I suggest spending a little more for a bigger room. Pool area is clean and tidy with nice beds and a swim up bar. There are not many beds but we never had problems getting one every day. Lovely pizzas, good cocktails and fantastic happy hours. Spa prices are not dissimilar to those in town so we opted to use the hotel and wasn't disappointed. Breakfast is excellent, lots of choice and all very fresh. Staff are all fantastic and attentive. We paid for a private family event and they went above and beyond to make it special. Thank you Ronil Hyatt we had a great time."

Grand Hyatt Goa

8/10 Good

"A beautiful hotel, exceptionally clean. A large wedding departed the day we checked in and another checked in while we were there. They book the majority of the hotel, so it does feel a bit like normal guests are surplus. Areas sectioned off, music pounding, wedding guests returning late at night, waking us. Our Air con broke, we told front desk, three hours later nobody had come, had to call again and someone was sent. Keys to our room stopped working so we were stuck in the hallway, again three calls and 40 mins for someone to bring new keys ( we were just out of the pool, so didn’t want to go to reception) My husband used the spa, which he said was perfect, but again, no one to help/assist on where to go once he checked in. Everything just felt a little like a battle, hiccups happen but it’s how they are resolved that leaves an impression."

Taj Fort Aguada Resort & Spa, Goa

10/10 Excellent

"Perfect place to relax in historic settings with great views. The staff is top notch and the included breakfast had lots of fresh made options besides the standard buffet fare. Take time to explore the grounds for great views and the next door Taj property. The spa was luxuriously relaxing with a sauna and steam room. Convenient shuttles and buggies are available but I enjoyed wandering on foot and getting my steps in. The fort and beach below are prominently visible from around the property (and my well appointed room) and also easily accessed to explore further. A must do for a classic heritage-style experience. The restaurants and bar were great. The concierge also helped arrange for a car to explore Old Goa. Relaxing getaway convenient from both Goa airports."

Fairfield by Marriott Goa Benaulim

8/10 Good

"Facilities were good, clean rooms. Short walk to the beach. Cleanliness of the tables in the restaurant was not great (placemats were stained from previous guests and never saw anyone clean the tables with disinfectant between sittings). Would recommend getting breakfast early as when we went late we noticed that some food items were running low and not always topped up."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dongorim?

The best area to stay in Dongorim is around the main village centre and along the banks of the River Zuari.

The village centre is where you'll find the most amenities. It's a relatively compact area with a few local shops, eateries, and guesthouses. The St. Francis Xavier Church is a prominent landmark here, and the nearby market offers a glimpse into local life. The streets are generally quiet and easy to navigate.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will appreciate the riverside properties. These often offer scenic views of the Zuari River and the surrounding lush greenery. It's a lovely setting for relaxing and enjoying the natural beauty, with opportunities for gentle walks along the riverbanks.

For travellers seeking a more secluded experience, the areas slightly further out from the village centre, towards the agricultural fields, offer private villas and homestays.

When is the best time to go to Dongorim?

The best time to go to Dongorim is during the dry season, from November to February, when the weather is warm and sunny with minimal rainfall.

Couples looking for a relaxing beach holiday will find this time perfect. The calm seas are great for swimming and water sports, and the evenings are cool enough for romantic dinners by the coast. Many beach shacks and restaurants are fully operational, offering a wide array of dining options.

For travellers interested in cultural experiences, this season also coincides with several local festivals and events, such as Christmas and New Year celebrations, which are observed with enthusiasm in Goa.
