It was very unique! Stayed in a very historical and clean home of Captain Stephen Daniels. We respected his home and learned a lot of history of Salem in our stay!
Room was clean and so was the bathroom. Certainly not everybodyâs taste to be sharing with another party, but thereâs not much to say given the price and location and the charm of a +-250 year old
House. I love it that this type of accommodation is available and thanks to the owners for maintaining this house so well. Itâs a lesson in history! Low ceilings hence not for tall people!
Absolutely one of a kind historic home - it ended up being the very best part of our trip. The housekeeper was lovely, the breakfast and decor are thoughtful and elegant.
Beautiful historical home full of antiques, great location for walking and enjoying Salem. Would stay again. Loved the chocolate muffins and quiche one morning.

Amazing atmosphere and location! The owners had quick and thorough communication.
My daughter and I really enjoyed our stay here. The location is perfect for walking to everything we wanted to see and on-site parking is a big plus. The place is impeccably clean and having a continental breakfast ready in the morning was a nice touch to start the day. Staying in the oldest house in Salem was a very cool experience.
The staff was amazing. Stayed in communication the whole time. Clean and walking made easy to almost all shopping and attractions.

Gorgeous property! Super comfortable beds and soft linens. We had a shared bathroom but never saw the other guests so it felt private. Highly recommend!
This is a historic bed and breakfast in a great location. Room was fine and because its a historic hotel we had to share a bathroom, however this never posed a problem. The breakfast part was less than average. What is missing is the charm of staying in a historic B&B which typically means special touches and a warm host.
Perfect location for walking to everything. The house itself is so interesting and full of history. We stayed in the East India room and our beds were so comfortable and cozy. Beautifully decorated, quiet and relaxing. We loved that there were snacks and drinks available pretty much all day and evening as most places do not seem to open very early in Salem (and we are early risers). Would not hesitate to stay here again.
Loved Daniel's House! We stayed in the east india room anf the decor is beautiful. It feels like you are stepping back in time! Check in and check out was simple and convenient and the beds were comfortable and clean.
We really like staying at unique or historical properties. The Daniels house was both. The Hostess at breakfast was very friendly and helpful with our questions about parking for my brother who was coming to meet us. Would stay here again. The only con would be thevceiling height in the 3rd floor rooms.
The property itself is incredible. The rich history of the land and the grounds themselves hold a welcoming and comforting inviting atmosphere upon arrival. The staff was amazing and acceptally accommodating to all of our numous questions as absurd as they might have been. The Marion room was beautiful and the picture really didn't do the magic of this place any true justice. The "secret" garden esqu patio. Is cozy and charming even in the blustery winds of Salem. And finding all enchantng inhabatince throughout the grounds was a very pleasant surprise.from the fairy gardens,to the upstairs "gard fish". This place was truly magical. And made our engagement weekend truly extra magical. Thank you Adele and Patrick for being incredibe hosts! Four thumbs up 10 stars would recommend to anyone! Thanks again and we will be back for sure đ¤
We loved staying in a house built in the 1600s! It was like getting to sleep in a museum rather than a hotel.
Also - the Continental Breakfast was more than we expected! Beyond a few kinds of breakfast bread and a toaster, there was also whipped cream cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and a couple types of fresh fruit. We were very pleased.
There were only a couple drawbacks (which would NOT keep me from recommending the experience):
As no one works a front desk, you have to repeatedly call to ask questions or store your luggage, etc. Even the ability to text - rather than call - the staff would make this easier.
The shared bathroom on the 3rd floor was adorable, but the ceiling is precisely 6 feet. The shower is in a beautiful old claw-foot tub a few inches off the floor. The showerhead is suspended a few inches from the ceiling. And you're surrounded only by a shower curtain - without shelves or other conveniences. If you're over 5 foot 5, showering is a bit of a challenging, hunched over affair.
The shared bathroom made me feel like we were spending the night at a friends house. If I caught that in the description I would have probably stayed elsewhere. I may have also missed the part about the low ceilings. At 6â3â I hit my head several times. I canât review the staff because I never met them. I canât review the breakfast because we didnât go to it. The bed was comfortable and the decor of the house was cool. Everything was within walking distance which was cool. If you you donât mind the shared bathroom I say go for it. If youâre tall I would ask about one of their other rooms (not the Marion room) that may have higher ceilings.
Great location, comfy bed but with a few downsides
I booked Danielâs House as it is the oldest inn in Salem but also because they offered free breakfast each morning so I thought that would save us money. It cost nearly ÂŁ200 per night and the bed was very comfortable, the room was big and both the bedroom and bathroom were spotlessly clean. The only think that let it down for us was the breakfast. The bread and muffins were under a plastic lidded container but were left out all the time, and I found it all to be dry and slightly hard and even after toasting I just couldnât eat it. Coffee was good and there was fruit and cereal bars, but comparing to other places to stay in Salem, I donât think this was worth the ÂŁ200 per night seeing as we then had to buy breakfast each morning at one of the local eateries.
The location was great but they also charge a $10 baggage hold which ruined our plans for the day we left as we thought $30 to hold 3 bags was crazy, Iâve never had to pay for baggage storage before whether weâve stayed in hotels or B+Bs so we didnât and that meant we couldnât visit one of the attractions that weâd planned to
My friend and I traveled to Salem for a brief overnight trip. We could not recommend the Daniels house more. We were assigned to the Great Room which was huge. We also were given access to the private driveway for parking (perhaps thatâs the parking space that goes with the great room).
The room and bathroom were both very generous in size. The king sized bed was so comfortable we slept so well. When we stayed in Salem it was super hot/humid and they had the room at a wonderful temp upon our arrival.
The Inn was also very quiet. I expected squeaky floors with it being an holder home and that wasnât an issue either.
I also loved their check-in, check- out online system. Itâs personable, informative, and helpful. We also feel like they vet their guests a bit and every gets a personal code to access the building- it felt very safe to us as well.
The breakfast was more like a hotel breakfast but it was perfect. Water, OJ, self serve coffee and house teas, assorted breads, PB and jelly, cream cheese, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereal etc. they also asked if we had any preferences (allergies etc) prior to our stay.
We also met the manager and he was so kind and helpful!
Would highly recommend and stay there again.
