"Booked the home for a fishing trip the third week of April. The home is on the Doe River and has a very nice, covered deck on the back overlooking the river. Every night we sat out on the deck and relaxed to the sound of the water and the rapids. We had awesome weather and enjoyed the stay.The house is well appointed and decorated. The kitchen had everything I needed to prepare and cook meals all week. The bedrooms were comfortable. The living room was set up well to watch tv in the evening.Fishing was slow on both the Doe and the Watauga. A neighbor told us about the flooding in September of 2024. I am sure the flash flooding took most the fish with it. We saw both minnows and a hatch and I am sure both rivers will be back to producing excellent fishing soon.We drove up in the hills east of the Wilbur Dam as well as Roan State Park. Both drives are worth the time. We hiked a bit at both locations. The Appalachian Mountains are beautiful in the spring. It would be worth a fall trip.Thank you to both Richard and Diane. "The Loft was by far the best place we have stayed. The pictures don’t do the home justice. It was immaculate and so comfortable. The back deck was the best listening to the sound of the river and seeing a blue heron standing on a stone in the middle. A hummingbird enjoyed nectar from the feeder with me right there. It love my The Loft tote bag! The hosts literally thought of everything including a notebook full of information. There are several great local places to eat. I highly recommend Laurel Fork, Dino’s, and J’s Corner. "

"We found our home away from home when we visit Johnson City! We come to TN a few times a year to see family and this is our new spot! It’s so well thought out. Every need you have is met. All the details have been thought through from a clothes steamer, to fans, to extra blankets, etc! It’s a perfect layout. The back porch has full shade all day and is a perfect place for relaxing. The sound of the river running mixed with all the birds chirping is priceless. The fire pit has a great space to spread out. It feels very private and safe. It’s definitely clean and you feel like you’re somewhere special. The owners are great to work with and you can tell they put a lot of thought into building this cabin. It’s honestly perfect. We will be back!!"
