The hotel is located right in the heart of the Volcanic national park - no wonder it is pricey. There is no elevator and I had to ask for help to get my big suitcase to the room - the staff didn't offer on their own. I stayed there for the location and that's totally worth it - very overpriced though - even though my room was NOT facing the volcanic eruption. We thoroughly enjoyed staying within Volcanoes National Park and so close to the volcano. We were also within 5 minutes of the town of Volcano, so that was convenient. It is only 30 easy minutes from Hilo airport. We loved this quaint, yet impressive hotel.
