Nice location !!

The hotel is located right in the heart of the Volcanic national park - no wonder it is pricey. There is no elevator and I had to ask for help to get my big suitcase to the room - the staff didn't offer on their own. I stayed there for the location and that's totally worth it - very overpriced though - even though my room was NOT facing the volcanic eruption. Food and service is fine - nothing great to write about !!

Location, location, location

The staff was friendly enough... the rooms might be light on features and amenities, and even be rather dated... but there are not enough nice things to say about being right inside Volcano National Park, being walking distance to the visitor center, or being within the park confines to go see the Crater's glow after dark. Not to mention the view into Iki Crater from the bar and restaurant.

great throw back facility. no TV. hard to believe! it is not the hotel's fault that with an absolutely fabulous location it had nothing to look at. at the same time, at least the park was open for me. others coming later were not so fortunate. price is exorbitant for the hotel itself. ALL THE ROOMS SHOULD FACE THE CALDRON.

Volcano House

Great and historic place to dtay right on the rim of the volcano. WHile it's not the Four Seasons, the rooms were clean and comfortable and staff was attentive.

Ne mérite pas le tarif

Effectivement, la vue est sur le cratère. Mais l'hotel est vieux et extrèmement kitch, les chambres sont meublées de la manière la plus sommaire qui soit: un lit, une table, et une salle de bain. Le strict minimum. On attendait mieux vu le prix payé...En plus, une moustiquaire inamovible à la fenêtre empêche de profiter de la vue et on se retrouve donc à admirer le cratère depuis la salle à manger. Point positif: le petit dej...miam!(mais non inclu dans le prix, et cher (13$). En bref, trop cher pour ce que c'est.

The only place I would stay

We had a crater view room and it was awesome! We thoroughly enjoyed staying within Volcanoes National Park and so close to the volcano. We were also within 5 minutes of the town of Volcano, so that was convenient. It is only 30 easy minutes from Hilo airport. We loved this quaint, yet impressive hotel. We love staying within national parks whenever we can, and we were not disappointed.
