« Pros: This space seemed brand new, everything was spotless, the bed was comfortable, Melinda at the desk was super nice and helpful, the refrigerator was large, lots of counter space, lots of windows, the space was really nice and open, it felt like a great value. Cons: The internet was spotty, there could have been more amenities to make it feel more comfortable. Maybe we were the first people to stay there and they are still working out some details. »

"The hotel is truly amazing, with a one-of-a-kind setting. The welcome is impeccable: valet service, fresh homemade lemonade, golf cart to transport luggage, very spacious casitas, and high-quality dining. Two downsides: the queen-size bed is rather surprising for a luxury hotel — and really small. As for the main pool with its stunning view, it’s so popular that by noon it’s impossible to find two loungers, as it’s already packed since early morning. We ended up relegated to the adults-only pools, which have more in common with public pools than with a luxury hotel."

![Directly outside the monument proper sits the uncovered remains of a pit dwelling originally constructed in 1850.  The dwelling would have been covered inside an oblate oval "cocoon" of mud and clay supported by beams and poles situated in the holes you see here.  It would have been a relatively comfortable dwelling in all seasons.   With a single opening for a door, the coolness of the interior would have been maintained during the hot summer.
