There are two main periods that are best for visiting Tari, during the dry season from June to September, and the shoulder season from April to May.
The dry season, from June to September, offers the most reliable weather for exploring the region. With less rainfall, the tracks for birdwatching and cultural visits are easier to navigate, and outdoor activities are more enjoyable. This period also coincides with some of the region's largest cultural festivals, such as the Hela Cultural Show. Travellers seeking to fully experience the unique Huli culture and its traditions will find this time particularly rewarding.
The shoulder season, from April to May, is also a good time to visit. While there might be occasional rain showers, they are generally short-lived, and the landscape is lush and green. This period offers a good balance of pleasant weather and fewer visitors, which can lead to a more personal experience with local guides and communities.
