I ended up staying at Bearvalley Guesthouse with a shared bathroom. As a single woman, i highly DO NOT recommend the shared bathroom arrangement, the sliding door when locked was open about a 1/2 inch perfect for peeping toms, felt very uncomfortable. Room was clean but smelly. We had access to a kitchen and a lovely Mexican restaurant within walking distance. The view from our room was awesome. We were able to go back and forth to Hyder, Alaska for grizzly bear watching at Fish Creek. It was so much fun. We also drove up to see the Salmon Glacier; beautiful. The owner left me a message explaining the self check in. Room was clean, simple and comfortable. There is a shared common area with a kitchen, cookware, dining table and couch with TV. Short walk around the block and you will find a few restaurants. Very nice room and very quiet. Outdoor tables and chairs provided for relaxation and to enjoy the spectacular views. It’s just off the Main Street and attractions. The walls were quite thin and I was glad to have a sound machine with me so I didn't hear everything from next door. The bathroom was very small but had everything necessary. If you are a large person the shower could be a challenge. I thought there was a shared kitchen and lounge space but apparently that area had been rented out long term and wasn't for guest use. But supplied us with what we needed a bed and bathroom for the night. It worked for being in such a remote place like Stewart, I wouldn't want a big fancy hotel built there. Sure glad they had a nice fan as it was very hot. Girl who showed us our room was very nice. Husband couldn't fit into the shower. I managed.
