I’m the type of person who reads reviews and thinks, oh they must complain about everything. Well…I’m not a complainer, but here’s what you need to know.
The staff was great and the area was wonderful. The couch in our room smelt like mold and mildew, which was especially bad because it’s right next to the bed. Our kitchen also had ants. Luckily we didn’t have any food. Private beach chairs or blankets are not allowed on the beach at the resort, neither are any type of drinks you don’t buy from them. Their water is $3. That’s if you can even get service. There’s loud music every night which can be heard even from inside our room with a fan running on the opposite side of the property. Friday and Saturday nights are “21 to enter” the beach area, however there were children running around. We got sent all the way back to the room just for my id with kids everywhere just so we could sit on the beach - which was so loud once we got there that we left. We got stuck on the elevator, which valet says happens all the time. And when we checked out at 4am, all entrances to the building were bolted shut. My fiancé had to manually unlock the doors and pry them open. Major fire hazard. Another couple had been locked outside all night.
Clearwater itself is wonderful and easy to get around on foot. If you stay here, I suggest driving less than 5 minutes across the bridge to Sand Key Park. The beach is beautiful without all the noise from the resort.
