"a delightful place for old and young"
This B&B excelled in every way. As grandparents traveling with a twelve-year old, we praise Sue and staff in making us feel beyond welcome. The pool and the outdoor heated tub absorbed much of our granddaughter's excess energy, as did playing with the resident Rottweiler Axel. The grounds are lovely-lots of holly and ivy- and the rooms, immaculate and full of charm. The traditional Yorkshire breakfast is a plus for hardy appetites.

"The place to stay in Thirsk"
From start to finish you are made to feel at home. We were welcomed with tea and cake by the hostess and given the run down on the local area. The room was comfortable and clean whilst the breakfast was excellent. If we are back in this area we will certainly stay here again.

Interior is a bit dated but clean. Access to rooms require carrying baggage up stairs, so not convenient if you have ample luggage.

"Convenient hotel near A1"
It was frustrating that Reception closed at 5pm, and that the doors are locked at 11pm. I needed to make a 36mile round trip to book into the Lodge as we were not sure the wedding reception evening festivities would end. The shower grouting would benefit from a good clean and freshen up!

"A gem!"
The first thing I noticed was the easy access and plenty of parking. Inside everything is clean and much has been updated. Check in was quick and easy. Our room looked out over the back and my friend was so thrilled to see old train cars and she could also see the factory where her father worked 50 years ago, so that was nostalgic for her. We had dinner in the pub. My friend got the Steak and Ale pie and it was beautifully done. It was fully encased in a beautiful crust and the flavors were excellent. I had the Chicken Carbonara and it was also great. We both had the vegetable mix and it was the first time I had boiled leek and it was gorgeous. It was finished with just a light touch of cream that made it perfect. We went in later that evening for a drink and there was a great crowd. Live music, happy people, dancing...we had fun. Breakfast was served in a large, bright, cheerful room. They had plenty of seating and had place cards on each table so that there was a table reserved for each party. There was toast, cereal, tea, coffee and juice for self-serve. In addition, they also took your order for anything else you might want for a full English breakfast. I'm American and don't know when I'll be back in the area, but I would stay again. My friend goes there several times a year and will be staying there again for sure.
