I want to love this hotel, but it missed the mark this past time. Specifically, no fridge in the room, seemed strange. The faucet in the shower kept leaking all night, and the drain in the tub did not work correctly. Props for having a tub though! Also, the fan in the bathroom did not work. There was also no sugar for the in room coffee. I’d like to mention that this is one of my favorite hotels in San Jose. We have stayed here before. When I made my reservation on Expedia, I made sure I only picked hotels with breakfast. General rule, we never book hotels without breakfast because we know our lifestyle. We showed up at breakfast, we were told it is not included. Embarrassing! I had to go to the front desk and the guy kind of fought with me on it. Kept telling me it’s gonna say in my reservation that I have breakfast. I don’t know how these things work. I just know I’ve booked with Expedia several times and have never had this happen. It didn’t say in my reservation, whether breakfast was included or not. But I certainly didn’t feel miscommunication between Expedia and the hotel should be on me. I actually said to the front desk, who was not nice, so you’re gonna really fight me on this aren’t you? And he said yes so I said you know what forget it, and I started to walk away. That’s when he turned around and said it’s OK we’ll give it to you. But again, a rather embarrassing moment from a hotel that we do love. So it felt a little personal. They did offer us a late check out.

Nice traditional Costa Rican vibe hotel. Very friendly staff and great breakfast buffet. Buffet has lots of choices and made your way omelets.

Great option for an airport hotel or if you want to be in the local area. A couple nice restaurants and a grocery store just across the street. Shuttles leave for the airport every hour, and it’s just 10 minutes away. The hotel itself was nice we a big swimming area and an open feel to the property.

Wow! The double tree exceeded my expectations. I read the reviews before I came but was still a bit skeptical it would just feel like a hotel rather than a resort which I originally was hoping to book but most resorts were full for the large group that we had. The pool is amazing! The pool bar was awesome with fun music playing in the background. The kids loved the pool and were in it all day long. The only thing I would recommend would be to add some more lounge chairs. The breakfast included was delicious and offered a variety of options. Come to my surprise an added bonus of a casino. I read there was a small casino but I just assumed it was a few slots and that’s it but they had actual black jack tables etc. staff was friendly and helpful! Excellent hotel!!

The hotel is very dated. We had booked two rooms. Front desk suggested we could have a room with 2 bedrooms at the same price for the two rooms. On the back of the door in our new room it showed the same price as one of the initial rooms. Seems like we paid double. Breakfast was awful… eggs and toast were cold, hashbrowns were greasy. On a positive note, the Royal burger was excellent.

The hotel is decrepit and the rooms are dark and old looking. The TV didn't work properly. The water in the shower was either freezing or scalding, no in between. A terrible value for the very high price. Only thing worth it was the food.

Very lovely location as we returned to San Jose for the evening prior to our flight early in the morning. I would return and intend to in the future. It was the most quiet place we stayed among the 3 during our trip. My only concern was the bath drain and the functionality of the shower plumbing, otherwise a wonderful place:)
