Renters Must Be 25 years of age or older to rent. General’s Quarters is a unique, comfy home that sleeps 8 guests. General’s is a 4 bedroom 2 bath home located in the Tideland’s subdivision. This cute home has everything you’ll need for the perfect vacation stop for your family! The kitchen is well stocked to make all your favorite meals. Coffee lovers will be happy with the choice of making a full pot of coffee in the drip pot or a single cup in the Keurig machine! With the kitchen being open to the living room and dining area, you can always be a part of all the conversations and fun! The cozy living room is the perfect spot to wind down after a busy day at the beach. Your family and friends can watch movies and shows on the Smart TV in the living room and also each bedroom. Outside on the deck, you’ll find covered and uncovered areas to suit all your needs. Downstairs you can enjoy the beautiful landscaping and plants. When you feel like having something grilled to munch on, you will not have any worries, because a charcoal grill is waiting for you to enjoy! Needing some vitamin “Sea”? The beach is just a short walk, golf cart, or vehicle drive away! Don’t forget to wash off all the sand in the downstairs shower! This home is pet friendly and allows up to 2 dogs (no heavier than 40 lbs.) with a non-refundable fee of $200.00.
**Even when provided, internet access/satellite TV/cell service can be UNRELIABLE on the BOLIVAR PENINSULA. We are a rural community and weather sensitive. We apologize, but Bolivar Escapes CANNOT GUARANTEE that these amenities WILL BE WORKING during your stay, and CANNOT OFFER REFUNDS for disruption of these services.**

We provide linens and bath towels in every house and standard beds are made for your arrival. Paper products and cleaning supplies are not included.

There is a starter pack consisting of the items below, please bring anything else you will need:

3 white kitchen trash bags
2 dishwasher tab (if applicable)
2 laundry tab (if applicable)
1 sponge
1 small dish soap
2 roll toilet paper per toilet
Small bar hand soap
Beauty bar per bath
Trial size shampoo/conditioner per full bath
Don't forget the beach towels, bug spray and sunscreen! Enjoy parasailing, sunset cruises, putt-putt, swim up bars, etc., on our beautiful peninsula!
This home might have an outdoor camera(s) to monitor the exterior of the home. Any attempt at disabling, redirecting or obscuring the camera(s) is prohibited and may result in the guest being evicted without refund of outstanding nights’ rents.
If a home has a lift or elevator, it is not for renter use unless otherwise stated in comments or with permission from Bolivar Escapes.
Please note, the mapping may be off on some properties. Please double check with us for the location. All of our homes are located at Crystal Beach/Port Bolivar/Gilchrist. Not Galveston.

We stayed at General's Quarters for 7 nights including the July 4 weekend. We had 5 to 7 people at the house on any given night including our adult kids and there was ample room for all. It has good views of the Gulf from the front deck and we rented a golf cart so it was easier to lug our beach stuff (ez ups, chairs, etc) back and forth. We have stayed at the property before because we like the Driftwood neighborhood on Bolivar Peninsula. For the price range, the house is in a good location for us. Overall we had a very nice family trip and enjoyed the home a great deal.

great property! was disappointed there wasn't a blow dryer, no essential spices in the kitchen, not even salt & pepper. the management team needs to leave enough dishwasher detergent, trash bags & laundry detergent for daily use-having to buy these items is not cool.

This was our third time staying at General Quarters so needless to say we absolutely love this house!! The communication between owners and us is excellent. The house is VERY clean and well stocked with any pots/pans/kitchen utensils you need. The location is just perfect! Short walk to the beach, short drive to The Big Store etc. We cannot wait to book again!

Great Getaway

We had a wonderful time at this property! My grandsons 4 and 19 months did not want to leave. The property was so accessible to the beach, we rented a golf cart and we were up and out every morning. Will definitely be back with more family ❤️❤️❤️

Amazing perfect place to stay in Galveston!

Everything was great can’t complain. Perfect spot to stay. Will say I would suggest to put cleaning supplies inside the home so we can clean up after ourselves better.. and more than one toilet paper/paper towels if someone is staying for about a week.

Truly is the best house! We had our Spring Break at Generals Quarters and knew immediately that we wanted to stay again.....SO WE DID! My MIL had never been to the TX coast and she even had a blast! She grew up gowing to Cape Cod so thats saying somethin! The location is exactly what we need! The communication with owners is perfect! Beautiful clean house for sure! Planning on booking here again!

Baby's first trip to the beach

We spent my son's first birthday here and it was so perfect. The house was beautiful and very clean. The neighborhood is really nice and it was quiet the whole time we were there. The showers were nice and the beds were very comfortable after a day at the beach. We enjoyed being able to grill downstairs and my son loved playing in the yard. I would recommend this house to anyone.

We had such a good time! House is so cute and very well stocked with any appliances/pans/dishes you could need. Interior was decorated so cute and beds very comfortable. Great deck space and nice view. Short walk to beach and neighborhood was peaceful & quiet. Neighbors were very friendly too! Loved this house and will definitely rent again!

Best trip ever!

The location was a perfect walk to the beach! The house was perfect for our family! The under part of the property was excellent for us adults to chill and watch the kids play in the yard! The proximity to The Big Store made quick trips easy! The locals we met were all beyond kind and really quite cool! All around phenomenal vacation! Can't wait to book again!

Good location, great fun!

We had a great time together. Beds were comfortable. Enjoyed the kitchen and all the dishes and pots and pans available. It has a great open floor plan. The decorations were very beachy and cute. Unfortunately one major complaint was that one of the bedrooms had messed up sheet with dark hair from a dog or person all over them. And we had to wash everything on the bed the first night. The bathtub was kind of dirty too. But after a scrub, it was good.

Thanksgiving Family Gathering

Excellent house for a family get together. Very cute decorating throughout. There were several items we would have expected to find on property such as extra blankets, pillows with extra pillowcases, blender, pizza pan, and pizza cutter. Sadly, they were all absent. Also, the house is extremely close to two other rentals that had non-stop partying. We were unable to sleep with windows open or put two small children down for naps because of the noise. We could not sit on porch or under house and chat because of loud music. Overall, even with those issues, we’d go back!

Lackluster cleaning.

The house is amazing! It is a nice distance from the beach. We didn’t mind the walk. I normally do not leave such low marks but the house keeping was HORRIBLE before we checked in. I would like to mention the the mason jar lamps flicker at low light and it is very annoying!!!! The tall lamp by the windows flicker as well, also, very annoying!!! We were supposed to be able to go in the house at 4 & the housekeeper was not “done” till around 4:30pm. We had drove 7 hours to be there and it was just slightly annoying. The porch was nice to sit on so it wasn’t to bad chilling outside. I do take issue with lackluster cleaning. There was a maroon pill next to the master bath toilet along with a ton of dirt & dust. Floors were dirty with food particles in living room area. Kitchen cabinet under sink had stuff splashed on it. When I got into the house i personally cleaned the high traffic areas like the kitchen counter and my wipe was BROWN! The ceiling fans are dusty as well as baseboards… not normal beach dust- it was dust like it has not been done in a LONG time. The couch had food crumbs on it and some kind of animal hair. While we were chilling out on the porch while the “cleaning” lady was in the house another girl came to bring bath rugs. She called and knocked and knocked and the house keeper never answered the door. We told her it was ok to leave the mat on our cooler and we would let the other lady know when she came out. When the housekeeper finally did emerge from the house while we patiently waited on the porch for her to leave she looked as if she had just woken up from a nap or had possibly been on some sort of substance. I feel like if you’re going to clean a house and you’re short staffed (IF that’s why she was running late) then hit the high traffic areas…. Kitchen counter, big messes on cabinets, big dusty hair balls with meds in them by toilets all seem like a good place to start with me… you know common sense. I did receive an email asking how everything was- at that point I had already cleaned and did what need to be done, I also did NOT want that lady back in the house while I was there, her idea of clean and mine are WAY different! Anyway… aside from me cleaning the house myself upon entering i had a lovely trip and I did think the house was super cute! This is my 4th stay at Port Bolivar & I love it down there! Please SHOW the housekeeper what to clean! It will really make a difference. Thanks!

Enjoyed our stay

You are a quick walk to the beach. You can see and hear it from the property. Backing a trailer into the driveway is a little tight, but manageable. The inside of the house was clean and well kept. It included all the kitchen items we needed and a grill down below. The 4 year old really enjoyed the swinging chair on the deck. The puppy loved sniffing the little frogs on the property, watching them hop around. It was roomy and we didn’t feel cramped at all. My wife especially loved the kitchen, as it was easy to work in for preparing meals. The laundry room is decent, with a vacuum available and a deep freezer, which was especially good for freezing water for the beach days. Access is easy to the property and just down the street from the Big Store. We will rent again.

Clean and Spacious Property Close to beach

Our family stayed here for the weekend of 4th of July! We enjoyed this home. It was clean and spacious and within walking distance to the beach. The home offered an opened floor plan for family entertainment as well as lots of outdoor space for hanging out. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were spacious. The shower downstairs was perfect to rinse off after a day at the beach. There were a few issues, but the property manager responded quickly! Make sure you come prepared for mosquitoes!.

Perfect Family Getaway

The General’s Quarters was the perfect place for a family trip. We’ve taken several beach vacations and everyone in our seven person party (ages 9-63) agreed that this has been our favorite place to stay. The kitchen and living room are large and airy and we all appreciated having our own rooms to disappear into whenever we need a break from “family time.” The house itself was very clean and well taken care of with plenty of dishes/cups/mugs/utensils/cooking necessities to accommodate larger parties. We weren’t sure how we’d like not being right on the beach but the short walk wasn’t bad at all. I would say that having a golf cart or , at the very least a wagon, would probably be necessary if you’re carrying anything more than a blanket or chair. Overall, we loved our time at General’s Quarters are already looking into booking our trip here next summer!
