"This property is unusual for hotels.com in that its main function is as a conservation centre for a rare breed donkey. It’s close enough to Perpignan to be convenient but far enough away to feel tranquil. The room was excellent. The decor was pleasantly quirky, Mexican themed with a Frieda Carlo picture on the wall and a cactus shaped soap dish in the bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom modern. "Not easy to find but helped to locate by an English speaking friend of the proprietor on the telephone. Joined other guests and family for the evening meal in the lovely outdoor garden dining area. After helping ourselves to the continental breakfast provided we spent a lovely hour in the outdoor swimming pool before our departure."

"Lovely property well maintained in a remote location. Sadly the pool wasn’t in operation during our stay but that did not detract. We were allocated the pool house so unable to comment on the main house. Owners are friendly, welcoming and eager to please. The village of Darnius is quaint but very much a one-horse town (unfortunately someone has stolen the horse). If it’s tranquility you are after, you will find it here."
