In 1924, one of the reels of film got stuck in the projector and caught fire, igniting a full reel in the lower magazine. Only the outer shell of the theater survived the fire. The Kinema was rebuilt "as near fireproof as possible" and reopened in 1924. The Kinema Theatre was renamed the Hub Theatre in 1928. In 1933, the theatre was renovated and renamed it the Gem Theatre. After the advent of television, the theater could not attract large enough crowds to pay film rental fees. We spent our days at the National Parks and the evenings at the house. There was plenty of space with the three bedrooms and three bathrooms, the kitchen was stocked with everything you need to prepare meals and the wrap around porch was amazing was star gazing! It's not as remote as I thought it would be. There are neighbors with two houses visible from the porch but it's still a very quiet location. My son loved the downstairs area which had a separate living area and TV. The internet worked well allowing him to be able to cast live sports on the smart TV. Upstairs had two bedrooms, both large. One with an en suite and large smart TV in the bedroom.
