Our room was clean, insect-free, and had strong A/C - everything you'd want in a Burmese guesthouse. Also, the staff makes an incredible breakfast that we looked forward to each day in Bagan - definitely try their mohinga and Shan noodles! Delicious fresh fruit and fruit juices, snacks, and other foods too,...

Heritage Bagan Hotel

Heritage Bagan Hotel

8/10 Good
"Super close to the airport …. Walk - don’t get a taxi (15,000). It’s flat and 7 Minutes max Hotel buildings and grounds are nice as is the pool area. Room was spacious and nicely appointed. Nice white sheets and towels. Pool area is lovely. But common in Myanmar I’ve found, staff at the pool area, bar, never ask you if you need a towel, don’t ask if you want a drink … it’s a bit odd given they are standing around. Breakfast is good and for better when more folks were staying there. Food from the restaurant (is dinner) is all reasonably priced and lots of options- which is great as there is nothing walking distance! Hotel can organise your balloon trip and e-bike hire too (both I highly recommend) Def recommend this place, it’s a bit far from everything else but it is super nice "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Pakokku?
The best area to stay in Pakokku is along the Irrawaddy River, particularly near the main jetty and market areas.

This area is the heart of Pakokku's activity, offering easy access to the river and the town's commercial centre. You'll find the main market, the jetty for boat travel, and several local eateries. The streets here are bustling with local life, showcasing traditional crafts and daily routines.

For travellers interested in local culture and river excursions, staying near the jetty is ideal. You're perfectly positioned to catch a ferry to Bagan or explore the riverfront, observing the traditional boats and local commerce.
When is the best time to go to Pakokku?
The best time to visit Pakokku is during the dry season, which runs from October to March.

During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm with lower humidity and very little rain, making it ideal for exploring the town and its surroundings. Temperatures typically range from 20°C to 30°C, superb for walking around and visiting local markets or nearby attractions.

Couples often find this period particularly appealing for a relaxed and comfortable trip. The cooler, drier air means you can enjoy boat trips on the Ayeyarwady River or explore the tobacco and peanut farms without the discomfort of intense heat or sudden downpours. It's also a good time for cycling through the quieter streets.

Solo travellers will also appreciate the comfortable conditions. The pleasant weather allows for easy exploration of the Shwe Ku Pagoda and the local workshops where traditional crafts like slippers and blankets are made.
