The Sunset Motel is the nicest iconic motel on Route 66! This motel is extremely clean and well kept. Darling patio area. Even has cute old fifties metal chairs outside our room and well kept retro furniture in the rooms. We were also given a breakfast bag at check in! Would absolutely stay here again.

Very clean! To go breakfast-brown bag, was so convenient. Lightning was kind of dim and electric outlets were also sparse. Definitely will visit again. Convenient to Heart of New Mexico Fiber Festival venue. Freindly folks in Moriarty.

The lady at check in was very friendly. The snack bag was nice. The bed was very uncomfortable. The carpet in the room seemed worn and very old. I've never seen such a small tv and an odd placement of the tv. It was at best 21" and as far away from the bed as it could be. No where by the bed to plug in your phones. No towel hooks or any place to put your stuff in the bathroom. The sink is a very old fashioned sink, but no vanity to set your things. There was a small shelf above the sink that was inadequate. A few towel hooks would greatly improve the bathroom. The tub looked dingy, and could use a refinish. It was noisy from the road too. But not too bad. With all that said, it was, extremely inexpensive. It felt safe. Honestly, the cost absolutely offset the lack simple conveniences like a larger tv, etc. But I seriously hope they install a few towel hooks in the bathrooms. I'd stay there again.

This place is magnificent!! We were scheduled to arrive after the 10:30 PM check-in time, so we called ahead of time to let them know. They set us up with a lock box connected to our door so we could access the room after hours. The room itself is so COOL. We were fully transported to another era! The beds were super comfortable, the bedding is top-of-the-line… each bed came with THREE fluffy, supportive pillows! The Sunset Motel is an absolute gem. Do yourself a favor and skip Albuquerque — book a stay at this place! A big thank you to the staff for being so accommodating in every way!

Bed was a little firm, but there were so many unique touches to make this stay special, including the breakfast bag that I snacked on the whole next day. So retro it feels like a film set! Shonda at the front desk is fantastic. Easy check in and check out.

The Sunset is a mid-century treasure that will leave you nostalgic. They’ve done a great job bringing in modern conveniences, like TV, coffee, microwave and fridge, but still keeping the retro vibe with decor and furnishings. It’s also pet friendly ($15), and has a specific pet walk area. There’s an outdoor bbq area. We heard there was an award winning brewery around the corner, but it closes at 5, so we can’t vouch for that.

Best roadside motel ever!!! Clean, quiet, and safe! The carpet on our room look like it was starting to need replacing. Hopefully the owners can continue to invest in this gem for future generations to enjoy. Our 2nd time here and will stay again next time through

The host who checked us in was super friendly and helpful. Made good suggestions for dinner. Room was nostalgic but neat and clean (with a REAL key!) To go breakfast pastries were delicious. Loved the office cat. (Did NOT love someone’s barking dog in the middle of the night…)

Sunset Motel was a step back in time. The owner has exceptional customer service—during check-in and check-out. Homemade pastries for breakfast were delicious. Although somewhat outdated, the room was clean, bed was comfortable. The carpet could stand a good shampoo cleaning. Some plugs near the beds for charging phones and other electronics would also be nice. We would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again if we are ever in the area.

This is a vintage motel. If you are traveling Historic Route 66, you need to stay at a vintage motel!! That said, as a retired person, I want clean, quiet and comfortable. The bathroom was very clean, the beds and pillows were comfortable and the furniture in good repair. It was also quiet!! Three for three! Also patio chairs outside your door to enjoy the New Mexico sunshine.

Motel constructed in 1959, but has received much TLC and is maintained with cleanliness in mind. May be considered a gem by folks who are exploring segments of old Route 66 as it is located along the old route. Classic 1959 architecture and signage.

Awesome roadside hotel off of Route 66.
The best hosts ever. Starbucks in the room along with a Keurig coffee maker, fruit and muffins to go for breakfast, and chocolate on the nightstand. Great place to spend time if you're in the area.

Excellent property. Much better than staying in Albuquerque. We stayed in winter (27 degrees) and the room was warm. The heater is silent and works well. Free breakfast in a bag was good too.

Very enjoyable motel
We really enjoyed our stay. We got caught in a snow storm and had to stop unexpectedly for the night. This is a cute little motel, everything was clean, and very comfortable. Cute little touches like the rubber duck at the bath tub and Hershey kiss on the nightstand. The breakfast pastries were great also.We will definitely stay here again on our travels.
