Also a spacious kitchen, a small dinning area, living room with cable TV and internet, washer/dryer and a gazebo. Renovations include new beds and mattresses, new hot water system, new dinning and living room furniture, gazebo with outdoor furniture and a dehumidifier. It is surrounded by forests, a banana patch, fruit trees and green areas in an area known for its peace and purity. located only two kilometers (1.3 miles) from the world renown Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve and four kilometers (2.5 miles) from Santa Elena. But This is house was most likely built in the 50’s with only 2 small windows in the living room that open. There is no ventilation. It smells like mold. If you are allergic to mold do not stay here. We left after 1 night and paid for another place to stay. That was 15 min away. Cheaper newer construction lots of light and windows that opened. They do have a humidifier that was not cleaned, the tube and filter were covered in mold. I got an insane migraine within 20 min of arrival, from my allergy to mold. I should have taken photos. They will tell you it’s from the moist environment. But I grew up in Point Loma. Ocean on one side bay the other. A house built in 1930’s and it does not smell this bad. The house was located close to the park. It is surrounded by wilderness, yet close enough to town. The woodwork inside the house is really special and makes the house unique. Many amenities are offered in the house. The kitchen is equipped and having a washer and dryer was so appreciated. The host reached out to us to make sure everything was going well each day. (You can get LED bulbs in warmer, more natural feel light but you have to look for them.) There was no end table or lamp in the living room so no alternative to the cold white light from the ceiling fixtures. Nightstands and lights beside the bed were a nice feature we often don't see in other places we stay when we travel. If you don't want people wearing shoes in the house, it would be really nice to have a boot tray on the floor beside the main entry door. It would also be a nice addition to have a place for guests to hang raincoats and hats when they come inside. The check-in process has a BIG problem: the written directions to the property are very misleading. The house is no "immediately after you cross the bridge." It would be far more accurate to say, "The driveway is about 100m up the road BEYOND the bridge." ##### Mark B. Conveniently located minutes from the town of Santa Elena, this home has everything you need for a comfortable stay! The interior has beautiful wood accents and everything you need to fix a meal or cup of coffee -- which you can enjoy outside in the gazebo! In the mornings you can see agouti in the forest/backyard (who love to eat your fruit scraps)! Daniella was quick to respond to my messages, there to greet us despite us changing the arrival time (a few times), and she delivered fans immediately upon request! Daniela was quick and always informative when replying to messages. We were a party of five and there was room for all of us. Daniela recommended a tour guide to us (George/Jorge) who is excellent. The property was super clean, well appointed with a large kitchen and laundry, and in such a wonderful location. It was so quiet at night and super close to the cloud forest. Daniela set up a night tour that was fabulous. She is super responsive to all my questions, and I really appreciated that! If you go visit Monteverde definitely stay here!
