The space
The property is located on the Maurice River, designated as “Wild and Scenic” through The National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act. This section of river was designated in 1993. The designation acknowledges the outstanding natural, cultural, and recreational values of this river and preserves it in a free-flowing condition for the enjoyment of present and future generations. For you “Birders”, the area is located along the Atlantic flyway; the Maurice River’s clean waters and habitats are vitally important to the migration of shorebirds, songbirds, waterfowl, raptors, rails, and fish. The Maurice River watershed contains habitat for numerous threatened and endangered plant, animal, and bird species. The river supports New Jersey's largest stand of wild rice, and is home to more than half of the non-marine mammal animal species that the state has recognized as endangered.
The Maurice river watershed includes 386 square miles. Since 1981, New Jersey Conservation Foundation has preserved over 3,100 acres of land along the Maurice River; in 2010, the parcel immediately north of ours was donated. The parcel to the south is state owned. The conservation and resource value of this property should be respected and enjoyed.
Limited river access.

Guest access
You'll have access to the entire home, the grounds, the trail to the river tributary, (bring boots) and as far out into the woods as you care to venture!
We ask you stay out of the garage and fallen workshop - but the old barn (without a roof) is accessible, and pretty cool - it used to feed milk cows! Please stay off the wooden deck next to the house, the wood is rotting and you will fall through! Waiting to get replaced!
Other things to note
Dishwasher is fixed!!! We have internet now. The cellphone reception is great.
We have TVs and DVD players and a pair of great speakers, though, so don't worry about keeping yourself entertained.
