« Overall it was a decent property for those looking to relax. The beds were comfortable and the house was clean. Getting the kayaks down the hill onto the beach was challenging. Not a lot of beach space when the tide comes in. Lots of jellyfish in July and we couldn't swim. The creek area was calm and it made kayaking easier. This was my first time renting a house on the river. Beautiful property with amazing views . »

« Spent a weekend here with friends and it was great. The only reason we rate it 4 stars instead of 5 is because due to an unforeseen maintenance issue, the pool was not accessible for the duration of the stay. The host was able to provide pool passes for the town pool located around the corner from the house and was able to help us out on the cost per night since a main reason we booked was to be able to relax by our own pool. « The house is great. Very clean and the A/C works great! I was surprised that the dock ended abruptly and is blocked. We were there to fish and crab, but fishing was more about getting snagged because we couldn't cast from the end of the dock. Jelly fish were by the hundreds in the water. Not any issue of the property owner just disappointing for anyone wanting to swim. Closet swim beach that is useable by renters is about a 12 minute drive. Wake Beach is about 100 yards of sandy beach...

« We live in the county but just needed some extra room for our visiting nephew. I was very familiar with area so it was an easy decision. We had so much planned for his visit but he was addicted to fishing after day one so a lot of our time was spent on the dock fishing and crabbing. It was a wonderful week. The pictures of the house are exactly as it is. »

Half Shell Haven has plenty of space for all of the activities, is stocked with everything you could need (kitchen for cooking, bathroom necessities you may forget, and plenty of extra blankets). The dock is super nice and allows you to crab from right there. Will continue to come back :) »

« My daughters and I had an amazing time at the sweet Escape. We stayed for a week and enjoyed the beach access, views of the bay, dolphins swimming and also the town of white stone and kilmarnock. My nanny lived in white stone when I was a little girl and staying here really brought back a lot of memories. Thank you for sharing your home with us. »

« Very nice property that made you feel at home. Super clean and had everything you needed. The host communicated promptly and had relatives on the island who welcomed us and made sure we we got to see the museum, even though it was closed! The island is unique to explore and learn about and its people are very friendly. Highly recommend whether a history buff, nature lover, or want some R & R. »
