Located at the famous Windansea beach makes this the perfect vacation rental to relax and soke up the sun. This 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom condominium has recently got a face lift with hard surface flooring, all new paint and completely remodeled bathrooms. This condo is located on the top level with a nice bright open layout allowing you to be in the kitchen or living room and take in the ocean view. As you enter the property (there are several steps) the amenities in the living room include a large Pottery Barn sectional sofa, dining room table with seating for 6, 50" TV with cable and streaming capabilities, free Wi-Fi, and two additional lounging chairs. Through the sliding glass door off the living room is your ocean front balcony where you can use the binoculars and watch the locals surf and enjoy the beautiful San Diego sunsets. There are also some board games and cards for you to use as well as some books to enjoy. Just off the living room is the open kitchen which is completely stocked with everything you would need for cooking meals. The major appliances include a dishwasher, refrigerator, electric stove/oven, and microwave. There is also plenty of dish ware, glass ware and silverware for 6 people. Just down the hall is the guest bathroom that has new white and bright cabinets, beautiful blue tile countertop and shower/tub combination. Even the toilet is new! Someone will enjoy crawling into the guest bedroom with a queen bed and nice cozy comforter to keep them warm in the winter. Down at the end of the hall is the master bedroom with the private bathroom. The master bedroom has a queen size bed, a day bed that makes out to be 2 twin beds and a 43" TV. The master bathroom was also remodeled with new cabinets, green tile countertop, new lighting and toilet. The master bathroom has a shower only. Through the master bedroom sliding glass door is a back deck that leads to the fully fenced back yard area. There is another smaller patio area down some steps that is for the guests staying in the condo below so please be respectful. A little message from the owners: "Windansea is magical. Howard and Claree built Windansea in 1971\. It was Howard's favorite surf break and he surfed there every day for as long as I can remember, taking our childhood dog Mary with him to wait on the beach. We lived there for a year in our early teens and then the daughters Lisa and Carol lived there for several years in their twenties. Now the family likes to enjoy the free entertainment of one of the most iconic surfing spots on the west coast. We now want to share that with you." We loved watching the sea and surfers from the balcony and living room. We enjoyed all traditional family activities around San Diego and finished every day at Windansea beach, just across the street. The March temps weren’t too cool for our kids to want to play in the waves. We enjoyed sunsets every evening. Additionally, the house is well appointed. We cooked every night and had all the kitchen and grill tools we needed. The beds were comfy and we slept great. We had extra towels and a washer/dryer which is shared with the lower unit and in the garage. We borrowed boogie boards from the garage. We are already talking about staying again. The view was stunning, and the condo was spacious enough for our family of five. The beds were comfortable, and there were portable fans available in case it got warm. While we didn’t cook, the kitchen seemed well-equipped. My only feedback is that the floors could have been cleaner (vacuumed but not mopped), and unfortunately, the tenants below us partied all weekend, which made things a bit noisy. Some updates needed due to age but would stay again… Some suggestions would be… paint a line for the car parking…. Other person staying below didn’t consider another vehicle needing to park. Replace or fix outside gate to shut easier….you had to push in the mechanism to get it to shut Plug in the master bedroom.. plug behind the nightstand closest to the bathroom needs to be replaced… items won’t stay plugged in. It's all about the location and this is on the water with killer views of crashing waves, surfers, skies (be sure to catch the magnificent sunsets) and people watching. The unit has everything one need for a great stay--its clean, fully loaded kitchen, nice bathrooms, spacious bedrooms and living areas. I fully recommend this place, but I will give you my quibbles: While the unit is on the upper level, one can hear everything that happens in he unit below---it can get noisy depending on who is down there. The kitchen shows lots of wear and tear. The beds are old and springs are creaky (the bedding and pillows are nice), the water pressure in the back bedroom shower is very strong, aggressive and not pleasant. Also none of the furniture in the living area is comfortable. The 2 poang chairs that face the water are not comfortable, the sectional sofa is absolutely uncomfortable (they put plywood sheets under the thin cushions--ouch) and the outdoor furniture on the deck is not comfortable. This is our first time booking through vrbo & were super impressed with the ease of the process and would absolutely book a vrbo trip again! I will preface my review saying that my husband & I wanted an oceanfront, yet quiet place to stay and that's what we got! (for the most part) I'll start with all the wonderful things about this place. VERY clean, hot water, quality towels, comfortable beds, great assortment of pillows - something for everyone, well-stocked kitchen (we did need to buy the right type coffee filters), location was pretty easy to get in/out of, overall great place! These next things are just general feedback but nothing major. The couch was not very comfortable although we loved the IKEA chairs and actually have one just like it at home. The master bedroom windows allowed quite a bit of light in. The curtains did not move easily on the curtain rod making it difficult to keep the light out there, and the window above the bed had a light shining directly in from the house next to it. I'm a light sleeper and woke up several times at night and thought it was morning. lol. This is probably just my age, but the door in the master bedroom didn't have a screen so you couldn't just leave that door open if you were in the front area of the house.(we weren't comfortable doing that) which limited the ocean breeze in that back room. A few loud doors slamming downstairs when guests arrived and barking dog next door here and there, otherwise - fantastic stay!!! ##### Michelle B.
