Large public bath, large room overlooking a beautiful garden, kind and helpful staff. Chose the dinner and breakfast option, which was fantastic. Many art pieces decorate the hotel corridors, and it feels like you are transported to the past. A small tea ceremony in the lobby in the morning. This ryokan is worth the extra distance. However the breakfasts were fantastic and we should have tried the dinner option. Transportation to and from Kyoto station was easy given the nearby bus stop and City Line 6\. We enjoyed the large pool (although it unfortunately closes each day at 5 which is too early) and the communal bath was relaxing! Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was large, quiet and very clean. Area around the property was safe and very quiet. A great place to stay. We got the tatami floor room with a bath and a view. The room is huge, the bathtub is huge, and the futons are more comfortable than expected. The view is beautiful too! I go in and out a lot to smoke, so I like that the smoking section is close to the entrance. But every time I walk by the front desk I am greeted with nothing but happiness and smiles. I have felt sooooo welcome here. The private Onsen was super nice and clean too! The location is pretty far away from anything so be prepared to spend a lot on taxis. But I knew that coming here. I'm happy it's on the super outskirts of Kyoto. It's so quiet up here in the mountains compared to the center of the city. This was the perfect way to end our trip in Japan. There's also lots of temples within walking distance to see! They even held our luggage for us on the first day so we could explore. Then our luggage was waiting for us in the room when we walked in! The place has really good wifi too! The room was beautiful and clean with a view of the cherry blossom trees from outside our window, and the futons were super comfortable. They had complimentary hot water and sencha for us to have each morning, which was a really nice touch. The only thing we were disappointed in was the food - we had originally paid to have breakfast and dinner included in our stay but we disliked the dinner the first night so much that we ended up not having any other meals at the hotel.
