This shot was taken from the town's boardwalk while looking West over the sounds. It is advisable to visit the location in Winter as that is off season - so you can spend more time taking in the beauty of the North Carolina coastline and also sunsets are usually much more picturesque around the time owing to the cooler temperatures and lower amount of atmospheric haze. Plenty of things around Duck to see. Further north, there is the Currituck Lighthouse where you can climb the steps to the top of the lighthouse. North of Corolla, there is an area where you can drive along the coast on the sand - 4X4s a must. Here you can spot some Spanish Mustangs, horses out in the wild. If you're lucky, you can spot them running along the beach in the surf. I'd recommend taking a tour through the Corolla Wild Horse Fund - the money from the tours is used to help the wild horses in every which way possible and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Aug 13, 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Nice place overall Would have gave a 5 but the walk to the beach was not the best when lugging chairs and an infant (even with a cart). Wish check in time was earlier and check out time later without having to pay extra. It would have been nice to had a warning about the sand spurs especially when you have pets and children. It’s impossible to avoid and painful when you step on them. The AC unit seemed to struggle in the heat. They would have scored more points they had hand soap for the kitchen and both bathrooms, as well as trashcan liners.Washing machine also looked dated.The furniture looked old and lots of questionable stains on the sofa. It would have been nice to have a sleeper sofa, in case you had a guest stay over for 1 night.Some pillows were stinky and old…so were some of the blankets. The AC, water pressure, hot water, refrigerator were all excellent. They had a lot of kitchen appliances that worked well and pretty new.
