We are the owners of a gorgeous, remodeled penthouse, 1 bd 1 ba (sleeps 3) condo with amazing ocean views inside and out. I to 2 minute walk from beach. It is decorated with a feel of the island throughout. New sound resistant glass balcony doors, windows and ductless split AC makes this a quiet retreat filled with light and extraordinary views. \*\*PLEASE NOTE: You may have heard about Maui banning some vacation rentals. The County Council is set to vote to ban 7,000 units (out of the 14,000 total units) from renting to tourists starting in 2026\. Those units were originally zoned "Apartment" and had been grandfathered into tourist rentals. That grandfathering is being removed. The complete list of units which will be barred from renting to tourists is readily available if you do an internet search on "Mintoya List." Our unit has never been on that list and has always been zoned Hotel/Business. If you reserve from us, rest assured you are in a legal, licensed unit in the appropriate zoning class. As beautiful as this condo was when we purchased it, we continue to make yearly updates: Shades that keep the sun out, but let the view in. Front screen door to enjoy those tropical breezes. New memory foam mattress. (That many quests ask for the brand as they sleep so good.) Full size washer and dryer. Our unit is supplied with all of the supplies to make your vacation as fun and relaxing as possible. Just unpack and let the vacation begin! The 1st floor of the complex has shops where you can rent bikes, grab a coffee or sandwich, arrange a massage, haircut or pedicure/manicure, pick up some essentials in a small market and plan diving or snorkeling adventures. Maui Dream Dive is a top rated dive shop that can help with any snorkel or dive gear needs. There is also a gym about 7 minutes up the road - convenient drop in rates for travelers. Or just lounge at the on site pool. Easy to learn to surf here! It doesn't get any more convenient. Rent surfboards and paddleboard gear from the surf store across the street. You are across the street from "The Cove" the best beginner surf spot on the island. Watch your friends and family surf from the lanai while enjoying your morning coffee! During whale season, the whales will be easy to spot from this top sixth floor "lookout", binoculars provided! The Island Surf building, in particular, is easy living. A SHORT WALK puts you at the Kihei marketplace and many great restaurants. A GROCERY STORE (Foodland) is an easy stroll. STARBUCKS is another local hangout to enjoy the morning or meet with friends. If you like to watch or participate in roller hockey, tennis games, pickup beach volleyball, basketball, surfing, stand up paddleboarding and be right by the beach we think you have the best location in all of Maui. Kalama Beach Park (across the street) is the place to enjoy these sports or watch the action. We have enjoyed concerts from the lanai. The owner, Pam, is an excellent communicator. The decor is nice without being overwhelming. The furnishings and fittings are of high quality. The cleaner does a great job.The location is ideal, with a panoramic, postcard-worthy view of Kalama Park and the ocean. While I had a rental car, I enjoyed being able to leave it parked much of the time. My longest walk walk was seven minutes (Starbucks) and my shortest three minutes (Sweet Hula at South Maui Gardens), with my two other frequent stops (Foodland market and Paia Fish Company) in between.I'm not sure if my travels will bring me back to Kihei, but, if they do, I won't stay anywhere except Island Surf 603. ##### Janet M. Everything has been decorated nicely and all the amenities are there. As the description says, there is a road in between the apartment block and the beach. The view is perfect, but the road is noticeable during the day. Me and my partner really enjoyed our stay at this property. This was a great alternative to staying at a hotel/resort. The condo featured great amenities which made it very easy to cook, clean, and enjoy our time. They provided us with all the necessary cooking supplies (pots, pans, coffee maker, etc.) The host also had many staple ingredients that complimented any shopping that we did (spices, cooking oil, condiments, etc).Additionally, the apartment was located in the heart of Kihei. Our family and friends have stayed in this complex in the past and have been very happy with their units. But this unit tops them all, top floor, great views, everything you could possibly need for cooking. So convenient, close to shopping, walking distance to the beach with chairs, umbrella, and coolers, grocery store, and restaurants. A grab and go store downstairs. We will definitely come back. Many restaurants, food trucks, coffee shops, beach, surfing location, sports fields, everything, convenience is the key word. Quite often there is live music and events in the Maui Gardens behind the condo, which is great for activities and fun but its ends early enough to not be disruptive. Front balcony is positioned overlooking the ocean with a great view but the downside is it’s also on a busy street so it can be noisy if sitting out for a coffee or view of the ocean. Location and view trump the noise though. The hosts are great and very receptive. The place is well set up with everything you’d need. We’d definitely stay again! ##### Dale S. What a way to wake up in the morning! The condo was very well stocked (better than our home), Pam and Doug have thought of everything. Just add your food. Very clean and ready for you to enjoy your stay…we sure did. Pam informed us about the South Maui Gardens behind the building, lots of food trucks and fun. Centrally located so you can walk to the beach, restaurants & shopping. Pam quickly communicated with us when we had questions. She also checked in on us to make sure our stay was going well. We just came back from our first time on Maui (and first VRBO booking) and we could not be happier with our experience with Pam and Doug's beautiful property. Pam checked in with us a few times to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The unit itself is filled with amenities (laundry detergent, so many different kitchen utensils, seasonings, beach chairs, boogie boards, etc) that we didn't even expect. It was SO nice having AC and a washer/dryer. The lanai was so wonderful to sit at and look at the ocean. There is a pretty busy street between the building and the ocean, but the noise didn't really bother us. There was some construction going on in the apartment building on the first floor, but nothing that really deterred from our experience. I think the most impressive part of this booking is the location. It is right in the middle of Kihei, walkable to so many different restaurants and a grocery store, with a food truck park in the LITERAL backyard. I would 100% stay here again, and would highly recommend. I was skeptical of the perfect rating, but after our stay I agree. Thank you Pam and Doug! ##### Natasha P. They were very easy to communicate with and the booking was trouble free.My wife and I stayed at this condo for 3 weeks at the end of August. We had an absolutely wonderful time. Location is close to many restaurants and food trucks. The condo itself is spacious, nicely decorated and immaculate with a nicely stocked kitchen so we could cook some of the time. The bed was super comfy with great quality linen.The appliances are all top quality. Having a washer and dryer in the condo was very convenient for us since we were able to freshen up towels after a great day at the beach. AC was great to have and extremely quiet. Being centrally located it was nice to have the soundproof door to shut out the traffic noise. We really enjoyed staying on the top floor. Loved the view from our lanai, absolutely stunning sunsets. Was very pleased with the Weber grills and the newly renovated pool area. I highly recommend this condo to anyone visiting Kihei. Thank you so much to Doug and Pam! ##### Dan S.
