My GF arrived before me and when she landed at the airport the hotel failed to arrange a driver to pick her up per expectations, so she had to book a taxi which they paid for. Our room was not as expected, but atter complaining they moved us to a much nicer room. When I then arrived two days later, again no driver at the airport as promised over the phone... but they covered the cab. Breakfast was decent, room was nice, and the service was pretty good. Just a little annoying to have to push then for the right room and better just plan to get your own cab from the airport. For your first visit to Nepal the Kathmandu Ecohotel is a great place to stay. Tours are conveniently planned in the lobby area by the hotel manager Bimal. All tours are affordable and less expensive than local competitors. I had the opportunity to visit all the cultural sites and temples of the city, and visit Nagarkot Hill for an excellent morning view of the Himalayas and afternoon hike. The nearby cultural diner with dancers is a must. Four days is all you need to have a great time in the city. Shopping in the backpacker district of Thamel is right out of the hotel's front door. The attached restaurant has great food, and breakfasts are free if you have a room at the hotel. Rooms are clean and reasonably priced.
