Nice size room with good amenities and a nice little balcony for an evening drink. Or there's a nice pub with good food just downstairs. If you're a light sleeper, the room we were in isn't the best option though as the door to the pub is right below the bed. But we slept great regardless. Requested an early check in to get changed and drop bags which the hotel happily accommodated. Room was fantastic with a very comfy bed, fridge and was lucky enough to get the room with a small balcony which was perfect to have the continental breakfast which was placed in the fridge while out. Short walk to the town square and a little further is the magnificent Abbey ruins and castle jail if you have time. We had a problem on arrival where I was charged again by the hotel after already paying Expedia, but I contacted them and they contacted the owner who refunded me whilst he still had to deal with them to collect his payment. Ate in the restaurant two nights in a row as there really isn't anywhere decent in the local area after a certain time, but luckily the food here is great. Not so good. The breakfast was some croissants and cheese left in our fridge overnight. It was the night of the Cheltenham races…. The bar was noisy, full of inebriated men.
