Over the past few years it has been completely renovated inside and out, originally a shepherds cottage it is now a very modern living space. The entrance leads into the living room with a kitchen extension to the rear; this follows onto a private sitting area outside at the back of the cottage. The bedroom has a double bed with fitted wardrobe. There is a bath with shower in the bathroom next to the bedroom. Heating throughout the cottage is electric with flame effect fire in the living room. The location of the cottage gives easy access to all the Island has to offer. Blackwaterfoot is 2 miles away where you will find one of the best beaches on the Island and a choice of shops including Butcher, Artisan baker, Garage and General store which sells everything you need. Kitchen was well equipped and everywhere was nice and clean. Not a big outdoor space, but managed to make the most of the sun trap at the back for a while. She took it in her stride and moved us next door, without charge. I would definitely recommend this property and its owner. The island, by the way, is one of the friendliest places we've stayed, and that's saying something. Go to arran, book with Jan and you won't be disappointed. ##### James L. Shiskine is a wonderful place to stay, quiet and very appealing. It's very close to Blackwaterfoot, which is beautiful. The Kinloch Hotel does marvellous meals (takeaways too). What really makes the stay worthwhile is the landlady, Jan. Last year, when we couldn't get off the island due to ferry problems, Jan put us up for an extra with no charge. This year, the same problem occurred and, while we were at Lochranza, she texted me to check things were OK. I assured her we were going via Claonaig, but just the idea that she was thinking of us is above and beyond the call of duty. We'd thoroughly recommend this property to anyone. Visit Arran.
