Staff attentive, friendly but not overpowering. Barring one niggle (below), we had a good stay. The Gluten-free options for my wife at Breakfast were wide-ranging and good. The hotel is centrally situated, and so there are plenty of places you can walk to (park, shops, restaurants) within 2 or 3 minutes. Didn't use the bar or dine in except one breakfast, so can't comment, but it is the same area as where breakfast is served, and is spacious and clean. The room was clean, and refreshments and towels were replenished. ONLY negative point:The room we were in (43), not sure if it applies to others, had a towel rail that is permanently on, without any on/off/thermostat control. This made the room too warm, and having the window open only just countered this. Since there was a double switch outside the bathroom, and only one of them appeared to do anything (bathroom light), maybe the other could be repurposed for the towel rail and labelled as such?" Upon arriving the reception area had a few Eastern European men ‘mooching’ about, there was nobody on reception to greet me, but knowing this is a check in remotely hotel that was fine, had it not been for the men hanging around the area. My room although clean had a horrible smell and the balcony door was unlocked. I had a terrible nights sleep, not just because the bed is so hard, but I woke at every noise thinking someone was entering the room. At 4:45am there was a few knocks on my door - I don’t know if this was a room mistake, but just added to my concern. There wasn’t any mention of having to pay for parking onsite, so was annoyed at having to pay £10 to park overnight- especially when in the morning I could see I could have parked outside the hotel for free. I have since read that this hotel is/was housing asylum seekers, so if you’re a lone woman travelling alone; I would avoid - equally if you don’t want to sleep on a rock hard bed avoid.
