Lula's Lookout, by Mountain Vacation Lodging, is a nicely updated and cozy condo perched on the hill above downtown Grand Lake. Here you can enjoy panoramic views and good quality furniture, finishes, and decor. This is a pet friendly property, with advance approval. Please read on for more detailed information.

The Property:
This pet friendly condo has a prime vantage point for the fireworks displays that occur during certain nights in the summer, but any time of year is a good time to enjoy these views! They are simply breathtaking. Look to the North and Northeast, and you'll see peaks within Rocky Mountain National Park. To the East, views stretch across downtown Grand Lake and feature a direct view of “Mount Baldy” looming above Grand Lake itself. Looking to the Southeast and South, you'll see Shadow Mountain and Shadow Mountain Lake.

The condo has a consistently good quality throughout. The living room is a great place to relax, with leather furniture, maple hardwood floors, a large HDTV and wood burning fireplace. Off the living room you have a good size covered deck. Lounging furniture and elevated armchairs make this a great place to take in your surroundings. You'll find granite countertops in the bathrooms and fully equipped kitchen. The decor is very tastefully done, western and outdoorsy, but not too much so. Bedroom 1 features a log framed Queen bed, views of the mountains and lakes, a ceiling fan, an HDTV, and an ensuite half bathroom. Bedroom 2 has a Queen over Queen bunk bed, making this bedroom perfectly suited for couples, singles, kids, or a mix. The full bathroom is off the hall, convenient to both bedrooms as well as the main living space. It is a split bathroom, which allows one person to use the vanity area while another person uses the toilet, shower, or bathtub - convenient and functional.

Location:
The best thing about this location is the views. Here, you're within the town of Grand Lake, but not right in the heart of downtown, and that's a good thing. You'll have fast, easy access into the very quaint and charming downtown area, but without having the constant hum of activity, pedestrians, or vehicles. The border and entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park is less than a mile away. The area's many parks, lakes, beaches, rivers, trailheads and trail systems surround you. From here you can choose your adventure, get there quickly, or just sit back, relax, and enjoy those views.

Arrival, Accessibility, and Parking:
Once you book, we're here to support you. We will provide you with arrival instructions, and answer any specific questions you might have. Accessing this property does require going down one flight of about 12 stairs from the parking area. The parking is an outdoor lot and the condo comes with one reserved space directly in front of the condo. There are unreserved “visitor” spaces throughout the development which are available on a first come first served basis. Trailers are allowed, as there are two large lots just for them - bring your boat if you have one! Campers/RVs are not allowed, if they will be occupied.

4WD vehicle information: The roads in Grand Lake which lead to and from this property are generally easy to navigate and well maintained. However, please note that your route to the area may include a mountain pass, and the condos are located at the crest of a hill. When traveling during snow and winter weather conditions, 4 Wheel Drive or All Wheel Drive and tires with good tread are recommended.

** Video & Noise Monitoring - Please note that noise monitoring devices, and security cameras, do exist on the exterior of the property. Cameras are positioned to cover all entrances and exits of the home. Cameras are present to ensure the property remains secure and safe, as well as to ensure that guests are honest and upfront about their planned use of the property. If you plan to bring more people than you've indicated, more dogs than indicated, to host a party or event, or do not intend to respect neighbors or the value and quality of the property, then this is not the place for you, and you should not book the property. For normal, respectful groups, we are sorry that these statements and measures are necessary. Security cameras and noise monitoring devices are an example and demonstration that the property's owners are taking steps to ensure the home remains available for rental, and in good condition, for your benefit. It was a lovely condo. A great fuse of the lake of the mountains. We love the way you decorated the condominium. We enjoyed watching the hummingbirds, ground squirrels, and relaxing on the deck with a cup of coffee. Very peaceful and quiet. Bed was comfortable. Highly recommend this condominium if we come back to grand Lake, we will stay here again.

Perfect Escape on the Lake

I surprised my Wife with a trip up to Grand Lake for her birthday this year, and I couldn’t be more overjoyed with how well it worked out. The Pennylodge is perfect distance from town to feel secluded and in nature while also providing easy access to downtown Grand Lake. The home itself was well furnished, and felt cozy. Like I was staying at some imaginary grandparent’s summer cabin. We found ourselves sitting in the porch, alternating between watching the boats on the lake and the many hummingbirds dance across the sky. I would recommend this location to anyone, and look forward to staying again in the future.

Overall stay was excellent. Don't like ring camera that views back porch area, privacy thing. should be move to outer porch pole. Main bedroom bed sits very high off the ground; it was difficult for my wife to get up and down on bed since she has keen issues. (suggesting of removing box spring or providing step stool steps or notification on website of height of bed) Otherwise, our stay was excellent, host responded to questions quickly. Morning sunrise was really nice over the lake.

Disappointed in this rental

Let me say this was a huge disappointment. I planned this trip for my family, after driving for 2 days to get here. We arrived to a messy condo with no running water. I had planned to stay in Grand Lake the entire week but our trip was cut short due to the condo not being ready. I have rented from VRBO for years and this is a first for me. I understand because of its location and not being accessible to getting repairs done right away, but knowing that there were broken water pipes and not following up to make sure they’re fixed before the next guests is pretty important.

Beautiful cabin with great views

Great Grand Lake Location

We enjoyed our 4 day stay at Lula’s Lookout . The unit is very comfortable with a great view of the two lakes - Grand Lake and Shadow Lake. The unit is better stocked than any other place where we have stayed - particularly the kitchen. The town of Grand Lake is low keyed compared to other Colorado summer vacation spots. We kayaked every morning, hiked and picnicked in Rocky Mountain National Park .

Beautiful View; Wonderful Location

My family has stayed in this complex twice and can’t wait to come back. The view over Grand Lake is outstanding. Clean, well-appointed rooms with easy checkin and communication process. Five minutes to RMNP and less to Grand Lake. Great wildlife viewing from the deck!

Great place!

Overall a great place to stay for the price range. Everything was fully furnished and comfortable. Close to Grand Lake and still secluded enough to enjoy a peaceful time. Very accommodating for late check out and our children loved the board games. We will be back. Be opened minded enough to know the property owners are not responsible for housekeeping, we found the place dusty and with dog hair everywhere but we just let them know and cleaned up with the supplies available and enjoy our stay.
