COVID-19 has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't curbed our enthusiasm for exploring. Here are some tips on how to tackle the new challenges of traveling:

• Before locking in your flight, check if any travel bans or restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get up-to-date information by reviewing government travel advisories.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to adjust your mask for identification purposes.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, place it straight on the reader yourself. When that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will need to be removed from your bag for screening.
• To reduce handling during screening, place items such as your phone, coins and keys into your carry-on instead of into the bins.
• If you want to take food on the plane, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to touch your food container or carry-on bag for inspection.
