Nestled in a picturesque hamlet between Kingham and Churchill, Lowfields is a charming, family-friendly cottage with a large garden that offers stunning views across the open countryside.
The house has been in our family for over 30 years and is the perfect base to explore every idyllic corner of the Cotswolds and the wide range of historical sites, famous landmarks and attractions in the area.
The property is managed by Cotswold and Country Properties.
The house is located on a country lane with it`s own private gated driveway. The entrance porch offers space for muddy wellies and coats and there is a large log store here for the open fire too. The living room has plenty of seating, an open fire and Smart TV and DVD player with a good library of DVDs for rainy days The house has an open-plan, very large kitchen diner with views across the garden. The dining table seats six people and there are french doors onto the garden. There is a shower room downstairs with toilet and basin as well as a washing machine and tumble dryer. The playroom is compact but offers younger children the perfect space to store their books and toys during their stay. There is also two chairs, a kitchen stocked full of play food and utensils and some toys and books.
The garden is half an acre and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. There is an outhouse housing a bbq, a child`s pop up play tent and tunnel and lots of play equipment including a rugby and football, tennis rackets and balls and a bike. At the bottom of the garden there is a wooden play house called `Blackberry Cottage`, which children will love.
Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a family bathroom Bedroom One is a beautiful, bright and airy King size bedroom Bedroom Two is a lovely double size bedroom Bedroom Three has a single bed in it but also has room for a travel cot if needed for a sixth person. The family bathroom is bright and airy and has a toilet, basin. shower and bath.
Guests will have private access to the whole of the house.
The house is hosted by Cotswold and Country Properties and the team will be available to help you throughout your stay.
Lowfields is perfectly situated to explore the surrounding idyllic Cotswold landscape. It is a short drive from popular spots such as Daylesford Organic and Diddly Squat Farm Shop (both 10 mins away). It is a 15-minute drive to Chipping Norton or Stow-on-the-Wold and it`s a lovely walk to Churchill via a bridle path and the road. Soho Farmhouse (members only) is just 11 miles away.
There are some wonderful local pubs to visit during your stay including The Chequers at Churchill (very good for children), The Wild Rabbit and The Kingham Plough (both in Kingham) as well as The Fox at Oddington and the Fox Inn, Broadwell. Bruern Farmshop and Café is a short drive away and is great for children, with pigs, chickens and a field to pick sunflowers in the summer months - we really love it there. For gin lovers, the Cotswold Gin Distillery is 20 minutes away but you don`t have to do the tour you can just go for an amazing pizza or visit the Hook Norton Brewery also 20 minutes` drive.
For a day out, there is the Adam Henson Cotswold Farm Park and the Cotswold Wildlife Park & Gardens nearby. We also recommend the Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre too (again, great for children) and it is also very near the Big Feastival which takes place at Alex James` farm near Kingham, every August. World Heritage Site, Blenheim Palace is a 20 minute drive with its beautiful grounds, palace tour, restaurants, two adventure playgrounds, maze and butterfly house (also see it`s amazing calendar of events throughout the year).
If you want to go slightly further afield, Stratford-upon-Avon is 45 minutes away as well as Warwick Castle and of course you can be in the the amazing city of Oxford via train from Kingham station in less than half an hour.
The house is gated and has a large private drive for three cars.
By car it is easily accessed from Junction 9 off the M40, from Oxford.
There is a train station in the neighbouring village of Kingham offering main line trains to various destinations including London Paddington in 1hr, 20 mins. Although very private, this is a semi-detached property so please be considerate to our neighbours when staying at Lowfields.
If you could kindly take your shoes off when going upstairs in the house.
Although the garden is well fenced and gated at the front we can`t guarantee an excited dog (or child) won`t escape so please keep an eye on both at all times!

Lovely Cotswolds stay
We enjoyed a very comfortable two nights in December. Very spacious and well maintained cottage deep in the countryside but well positioned for many nearby towns.
