Island Hideout Summar

Summary:
Your dream Charleston getaway awaits in our newly renovated 2BR apartment on James Island. Our space boasts two memory-foam Queen beds and a cozy futon for ultimate relaxation. Experience the best of both worlds with a short 10 min drive to Folly Beach and 12 mins to Downtown. Our full kitchen and bath provide convenience, while the large, shaded, fenced-in backyard is perfect for creating memories with family and friends. For added fun, we offer beach chairs, towels, and a Bluetooth stereo.

The Space:
This spacious, well designed apartment offers a full kitchen with all the essentials, comfortable tiled shower with bench seat, rain shower-head, and detachable shower-head, easy key-code access, Wifi, two flat screen smart TV's, shared laundry room, inside and outside seating areas, and ample space in the large shady backyard to play and entertain. For guest convenience we provide coffee, sugar, bath and beach towels, bed linens, paper towels, toilet paper, and soaps.

Guest Access:
In addition to the apartment guests have access the to the fenced-in 1/2 acre backyard, with ample parking for cars, boats, RVs etc. (backyard is shared with home owner and other guests that my be staying in the detached Cozy Island Cottage located in the rear of the property). Guests also have access and use of shared laundry room (detergent is provided) and outdoor kitchen (please notify the host if you would like to use the outdoor kitchen, so a quick tutorial can be provided) and the outdoor shower.

The Neighborhood:
Centrally located in a convenient James Island neighborhood, only a quick 5-mile drive or Uber ride to both Folly Beach and Downtown Charleston. Beautiful James Island County Park is close by as well as restaurants, bars, shopping, banking, and convenience stores within a half-mile.

Other Things to Note:
There are three rental units on the property that may be housing other guests during your stay. The units are all separate with designated outdoor areas and parking, but are on the same half acre property so please be courteous of others.

The Island Hideout is the unit attached to the front house located on ground level.

There are cameras located at the front exterior entrance and and over the backyard.

Perfect Location

Stayed here to visit my son who recently moved to Charleston. The space was perfect and within driving distance of many points of interest. It had everything you could ask for. The bed was so.....comfy and the shower was wonderful. The property was very clean. The beach chairs were a nice feature. We will be back .

Perfect getaway!

Lovely spot and great location on James Island. Perfect place to come back to after a day of beach and exploring Charleston. Super easy check in and check out process, and the hosts were proactively communicative and super friendly. Highly recommend!

Easy Peasy!

My mom recently moved to Bishop Gadsden (a retirement home) and no longer has a guest bedroom to stay in, so my siblings and I looked into alternatives (hotel, stay with friends, etc…) Island Retreat is the PERFECT solution. It’s one of three properties on the “compound”. It’s clean, safe and so easy, which is just what I need. It’s also close to the Walmart if you need anything. I will say the bathroom is teensy (no counter space at all and a tiny shower) so I think it wouldn’t be great for a group of friends - just something to keep in mind. Other than that it’s pretty much perfect.

Outdoor shower, clean, bike-able… lovely lil stay

It was a lovely stay. One of the best features was the outdoor shower for cleaning off after going to the beach! So convenient. The owners were very responsive and helpful. Appreciate an easy check in system and the security of the gate! Location was fantastic, central to folly, west Ashley, downtown, mount pleasant… all places we wanted to visit. I got to run away to Starbucks one morning for an hour to read and my husband and 7 year old were able to easily bike up to where I was to then hop in the car to go down to the beach so I loved how’s bike-able this location was. Inside, things were nicely labeled so you knew where EVERYTHING was. Fresh sheets and bedspreads, clean floors and bathroom. Air purifier in central location. Generously left snacks on counter. Enjoyed it :)

Perfect in between

We loved this stay! It was the perfect spot in between Folly and Charleston. Although we didn't hang around the property too much due to a wedding, it was comfortable enough for 5 people and would have been a cool place to hang and cook dinner. I would definitely stay here again.

Loved it!

The Island Hideout was perfect. It was very clean and comfortable with lots of room, comfy beds and convenient parking. The location was so convenient to everthing you come to Charleston for: the beach, great food, entertainment etc but still tucked into a quiet peaceful neighborhood. David was easy to communicate with and check in was a breeze. We will definitely stay here again and recommend The Hideout to others! Thanks for a great stay!

Great hideaway

Fabulous stay! The yard was ideal for my 2 pups to run around and get exercise. Although there is another apartment and a cottage, I never saw anyone and the area was peaceful and quiet. I used the bed in the main area as it was a bit cooler in the hot summer. It was akin to living in a studio apartment. The other separate bedroom has a ceiling fan and is comfortable with a slider to the yard. Easy access to downtown in 10 minutes yet away from the hustle and bustle. I would highly recommend and will stay again if opportunity arises.

Seamless check-in, property clean with all the amenities, made good use of the beach chairs that are available, property 10 minutes from the beach and about the same for the city of Charleston, Folly Beach is very nice , you need to get away from the congested parts near the pier on towards the Lighthouse, much cleaner and less crowded

The location of the property was excellent. The accommodations were good, but having one bed in the living area is kind of awkward. The property would be great for a couple who only needed to use the one bedroom in the back of the house. Enjoyed our stay, but if traveling to Charleston again would probably choose another location - only because of the layout of the bedrooms - really only one "bedroom". The bathroom is really small as well. The host was great with correspondence. Overall, really enjoyed our stay.

Beach Weekend

We enjoyed our stay at this location. It was conveniently located between Folly Beach and Charleston. We went to the beach in the daytime and Charleston for evening dinners. the place was spotless and extremely comfortable. The owner checked in with us prior and during our stay to make sure we were good and to make sure there were no problems. The property was such a great setup. We didn't use the backyard area during our stay but if we wanted to, the area was comfortable enough to just sit back and enjoy the evenings there. We would definitely return.

Convenient and clean

This was an impromptu trip so we were just looking for somewhere we could get baths and sleep after our time at the beach and Charleston. The island hideout was at a great location between Folly and Charleston. Very private back area and we felt safe. The apartment was clean and beds were comfortable. We sat outside a lot and had our own areas to relax in. I would go here again and recommend to anyone coming to this area.

We had a lovely time! Arrived through a gate; inside yard was pretty, with table seating, an outdoor shower, and plenty of parking. Inside were two queen beds and a fold-down couch (could comfortable hold only one person), one bathroom with a shower, a kitchen (with dishes/pots/utensils), and a laundry/dryer room with lockable door (shared with second floor tenants). Two TVs with subscriptions to Netflix and Prime, plenty of sheets and towels, shampoo/conditioner/soap provided. Beach was an 8 min drive away; we found plenty to do during the two nights we stayed. Thank you!
