Friendly Hosts in a quiet Mexian neighborhood.

The owners, Eva and Bernard, were totally hospitable, friendly, and spoke English well. The B & B is in a truly Mexican neighborhood 3 km from the beach. It costs only 25 pesos (less than $2.) for a taxi to the beach or the B&B offers free bikes to ride. The neighborhood is very safe and friendly and has some great restaurants for very reasonable prices. The beach at Puerto Morales is great; such a wonderful alternative to the craziness of Play del Carmen or Cancun. However, even the beach area has the bars and expensive hotels, so if you want a reasonably priced B & B in a quiet neighborhood, that has some Mexican authenticity to it, Buenas Dias is a great choice.

I arrived a little late, around dusk. I entered, and walked around the buildings, but there was no signage to direct me to an office or anything. No attempt had been made to contact me through Whatsapp or anything like my other accommodations had. Luckily a man appeared from outside the property and led me to my room. The room itself was simple as I expected, which would be fine, but there were some notable flaws that I really didn't like. First of all, the shower was okay. It actually had hot water unlike most of the places I stayed in Mexico, but the silicone shower head had a huge leak, so most of the water hit the wall instead of me. The air conditioner was jerry-rigged with a timer, so it could only be operated for a maximum of 4 hours, and also, it was locked onto a high temperature to save them money, but not to make me comfortable while I slept. And while I slept, the air conditioner was busy dripping water on the table below it where I had my cash and my new passport, so both were soaked when I woke up in a pool of sweat since the air conditioner had shut off. Also, there was a pull-down blind that was broken, so I had to hold it down using a lamp weighted with a bottle of water to have privacy in my room. My assessment is that the owners are so cheap that they make their customers uncomfortable to make a little more profit, which I think is unwise. I cannot recommend this accommodation as a result unless the owners change their mindset and fix the problems.

Le bandb est dans un quartier très populaire mais sans problème. La chambre est très simple et le petit déjeuner aussi. La décoration est très sympa. On est en immersion. Il faut une voiture pour se rendre au centre et à la plage de puerto morelos. Par contre c'est pas loin de la route principale qui va de cancun à playa del carmen. Il faut absolument mettre une pancarte devant l'établissement pour indiquer le nom de celui ci car on peut passer devant plusieurs fois devant sans le trouver. Il faudrait vraiment mettre des rideaux opaques à la fenêtre, ce serait un plus.

We really liked the staff and the friendly atmosphere and all the extra work the staff went to to make our stay wonderful. Having free bicycles available made getting to the beach a breeze. However, there are feral cats that you can not approach that fight and spray urine on your door or articles left in the office. It’s a small thing to overlook in an otherwise wonderful place. Thank you again

Puerto Condo

The location was within a new gated, safe community. Taxi to town square where touristy restaurants & shops and bars are in the evening. Daytime bike ride of 6-7km to and from is good if your active. The condo is awesome very well equipped in the kitchen to enjoy home meals, snacks and refreshments. Guests be aware of the currency being requested.

Buenas Dias is a hidden gem.

Buenas Dias is a hidden gem. Throw out your Canadian or American ideas of what a neighbourhood or b&b should look like, and you will enjoy everything this “mom & pop” operation has to offer. The neighbourhood is safe, the people friendly, and the food nearby excellent. Allow yourself to experience a more genuine Mexico with these excellent Spanish/English speaking hosts who go out of their way to make you welcome. Very comfortable, clean accommodations, great included breakfast.

unsafe/nfriendly neighbourhood

When driving around with a local friend we have assesed the neighbourhood to be unsafe and decided not to use it (I'm staying in Playa del Carmen instead). Whatever the interior can be, if you can't walk safely to a restaurant, a beach or so, then what is the point of being there in the 1st place? 3 main property's criteria is location, location, location, and this one does not comply to any of them. Unfortunately we've been in a rush, and I didn't take any pictures, but I'm sure you can roam with streetview to find out yourself.

I liked the colors, the decoration, the beds were comfortable, the owners are nice and their maid, Marly will do her best to help you in case of problems. What we didn't like was the fact that we had No HOT WATER at all during our 3 days and nights, and having a 22 mi ths old baby with this issue wasn't very pleasing.. Also we had 2 water infiltrations during our 1st night, 1 on my luggage and the other on on my bed, the pillow and bed was soakes. But they fixed the problem on the next day. Also for some reason there is an image of a pool in the pictures of the property but there was no pool at all.. False info. I think that the owner should have at least give us the round trip to airport for free due to the fact that we paid for something that we didn't get, I had to negotiate to pay half for round trip.. Anyways.. I won't recommande it. First and last time for me

It was great. Close to local eating places, taxi and bus. Excellent continental breakfast. Definitely get a room with air conditioning. People were very friendly. Take your google translator if you don’t speak Spanish.

Affordable in Puerto Morelos

Bed comfortable. Quiet neighbourhood at night. Nice upper patio for breakfast. The addition of some protein like hard boiled eggs would have been appreciated along with the toast, fruit and yogurt. The room was very small but adequate for a short time. Friendly staff. It would be helpful to offer a free map of the town like we found at a restaurant. Good restaurants nearby. Appreciate the book exchange
