Great architecture and gathering hub.Rooms are more Ibis size but location is good and walkable to Apia. Great beds too! Fab to have good internet too. Let downs were quality of food, it was ok but it could match the great environment so much better. Cleaning was overall good but shortcuts will affect great cleanliness such as behind doors where grime build was seen as beginning to do a takeover bid behind bathroom doors and in between partitioning in shared ones off main floor. Staff ignoring seated customers observed frequently as they ended up rising and heading to place orders at bar will impact this cool space.

Thank you to the sister who helped me get checked in. My initial booking was scheduled on a different date but with the weather change the island went thru, I wasn’t able to make my booking on the scheduled day. But they were still able to accommodate me for my paid booking. For that I’m grateful for. Great service!

It was a lovely stay - my husband & I and 3 close mates. We were placed neighboring rooms which was awesome. I would urge them to review their food offers and standard. We had big adventurous days and were just looking to chill late arvo evening. Food offer to limited to stodge. That said, loved the uncomplicated healthy brekkies included (please get some marmite & or vegemite). Desperately needs loungers around pool and shade -with no balconies to gather this is the ONLY place to catch up, relax with friends. Pool needs temp control to chill it down - seeking a cool dip morning or evening - it is just too too warm (and breeding ground for bugs I expect). Your staff are wonderful! Lovely vibe mix of locals and tourists. Neat there was not ONLY tourists. Thank you.

A welcome drink at check-in was great after many hours of tiring travel. However, being asked to pay for the accommodation (which had been pre-paid) wasn't so great. The room was very clean and neat and staff very friendly. The Thursday BBQ was lovely as was the live entertainment on Friday and Sunday. Breakfast was usually served in a timely, friendly manner, however, specific requests were often overlooked, eg: white toast requested but w'meal toast delivered; coffee requested AFTER the meal but delivered BEFORE the meal; bread was hardly toasted and lukewarm; no maple syrup provided with French toast and too little with the pancakes. The Sunday breakfast took MORE THAN AN HOUR to receive, despite a number of enquiries, with later arrivals receiving their meals before us. When our drinks finally arrived, they were the wrong ones! When we requested sugar and a teaspoon, nothing happened until I went to the bar and got them myself. Tea/coffee/sugar sachets were not refreshed daily in the room until we asked. Used towels were removed but not replaced until we asked. A map showing all the local attractions, restaurants, pharmacies, shops, etc, would be very useful for international guests. Printed information regarding exact taxi fares to various destinations would also be very helpful, as the amount charged varies with the driver (eg 100WST from airport to hotel, 80 to return; 15WST to R L Stevenson Museum, 10 to return). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would love to return

Out of 5 days we stayed there, the elevator only worked 2 days. room too small, air condition was too hot. water dripping down the ac. It happened to us twice, we locked our room and when we return we did not need a key because we just pushed the door and it opens. we did not feel safe. nothing was removed but still. this is our first and last to go there.

Fantastic hotel, great location walking distance to most things. Staff from the restaurant/bar to cleaning staff, were so friendly and helpful nothing was ever a problem. Food and fiafia night was hands down the best food and show compared to other hotels. Really enjoyed our time there, only thing to say was the lack of poolside umbrellas and lounges around the pool area. Would highly recommend but remember, it is a hotel not a resort. Definately stay at the Lava Hotel again

We arrived at the property to see if we could check in an hour early but we werent able to as it would cost 150tala we then waited to check in at 2pm. When we checked in they told us we only booked twin beds. But when I checked my booking it was booked as a king i think that was just an excuse for them not having our room ready. We had a wedding to go to at 3.30 and werent able to get into the room until 2.45pm and even when we did go in the bed was still being made up. We told them to come back and finish it as we needed to get ready. When we went back the bed was made but no towels. Throughout our stay we never got fresh towels each day or we would receive pool towels. Room cleaning was done sometimes. Communication was really difficult between the staff and sometimes we would be charged for things we didn't order. The worst of our stay was when they had a band playing at the resort and it was soooo loud and played right through till 11pm. I can take some noise but it was rediculous there was no consideration for the guests at all. I would have appreciated the staff to let us know that maybe it was there most money making night and perhaps something complimentary for the inconvenience but nothing. When we ordered breakfast the first morning it took an hour and a half. The next morning we went to order the same breakfast as before and they changed the toppings you could have from all of them to just two. There was so much inconsistencys. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Samoa is absolutely incredible BUT this hotel is incredibly disappointing due to the service. On one particular day, I ordered 4 meals and every single one of them the wrong food came out. Eggs Benedict with ham…get eggs Benedict with salmon. Strawberry ice cream, get chocolate ice cream. I have travelled to 26 countries and as I say, my time in Samoa was wonderful. I cannot speak highly enough of the country. But my firm recommendation is to avoid Lava until their quite honestly deplorable, careless and rude service improves.
