« Hôtel qui aurai besoin d'un bon gros coup de rafraichissement. Hôtel à quelques mètres de l'autoroute, donc très bruyant, surtout quand on doit ouvrir la fenêtre pour rafraichir la chambre (sans clim) en été. Hôtel au milieu de nulle part. »

« Room was nice, nice location ( handy for train). At £179 seemed a bit pricey for what you got,cooked breakfast was very average. Would stay again but not at this price. »

« Friendly staff, room was pleasant however there was a constant humming noise from the roof space as if an extractor fan was on all night. Breakfast was good. Overall I’m likely to stay again but will pack ear plugs! »

« Really nice stay but shine was taken off by one of staff being quite confrontational. Lovely welcome and check-in spoiled by an older lady I believe called Nicola (that’s what came up on the digital till when I purchased a drink later in the evening) who involved herself unnecessarily in the check-in process. « The pleasant, friendly staff were particularly memorable for their friendly, helpful 'can do' attitude. The room(s) we were given were more than adequate for our needs and included a bedroom and a sitting room together with two TV's and the usual shower room. It was quirky, old and perhaps in need of a little TLC, but laid back and lovely »

Would recommend displaying WIFI login details in the rooms in future . Room needs a bin , not just a bathroom bin . Good close parking, big spacious room with a nice comfy sofa . Lots of potential in room , but in need of updating . »

« Probably the best place I’ve stayed in a long time. The food at the pub is first class and home cooked, non of the usual pub clone food. The room was immaculate and very comfortable, bed was great and the shower was fantastic. Thoroughly recommend this place, I’ll be back. »

« L'accueil dans cet hôtel qui fait aussi pub et restaurant est très chaleureux. Les chambres sont assez spacieuse et la literie confortable, même si cela semble un peu vieillot...(c'est peu être à la mode en Angleterre..?) Toutefois, pour ce tarif on y est bien mieux que dans une chaine d'hôtel style F1... Bref pour un séjour sans se ruiner sur Durham et sa région, je recommande vivement cet hôtel ! »

« The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area. The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay. The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!! Would happily stay here again when visiting the area as it’s a perfect little...
