“Convenient hotel”
Small, clean hotel in a great location right next to St Paul metro. Pleasant room with new TV and good bathroom. Not much storage space, and no hairdyer in room. Steep, uneven spiral stairs and no lift - would not suit anyone with moblity issues. Typical breakfast of croissants, bread etc. Good value for money.
“A Nice Hotel in a Great Location”
From another hotel review I understood that the 5th floor was difficult to reach, but wow! Be prepared to be in amazing shape if you plan on staying up there. I thought I might just throw my bags out the window rather than have to bring them down again.
“Great location!”
Pointe Rivoli has some very positive features. Most importantly it is very well located, close to the St Paul Metro station and the Marais district. There are lots of interesting shops nearby and all the essentials - fruit stands, supermarket, and patisseries. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and polite. The only negative issue for some would be the extremely steep, winding, narrow stairs. We were on the fifth floor and there were 87 steps to climb. If you had cumbersome luggage this would pose a real challenge.
“Great Location, Great Deal”
I was very apprehensive about selecting this hotel when I saw the rating, but then I read the reviews and then decided a bunch of whiners that expected concierge and bell hop service to match Georges V at a place that is probably 1/16th the price were just that. This is not the Georges V, it is not even a Holiday Inn. This is a quirky little place that is right beside the St Paul Metro stop on Rivoli. It is run down, but they've made it kind of fun with the updated decor. There is no elevator and the stairwell is narrow. The service desk people were friendly, the room was clean and warm and dry and comfortable. The best part... Location and price. It served its purpose.
“Pointe Rivoli Great Location For Budget Travelers”
I recommend this hotel for fit people that wouldn't balk at climbing many winding miniature steps to their room with all of their luggage. Most people staying there were single male travelers. I am a 115 pound woman and if it hadn't been for a nice guy that happened to be checking in behind me, I really don't know how I would have gotten my large suitcase to the 5th floor up the narrow, dizzying staircase. The location is superb, right in the middle of the Marais and in walking distance to pizza, brasseries, bakeries, Jewish delis, the Notre Dame, the Hotel de Ville, and the Pompidou Center. The metro line 1 is right outside the door. Many great falafel places right across Rue Rivoli and great boutique shopping. Also across the street from the lesbian area of the Marais. The cleaning was below par; I found hairs in my bed. I asked about Wifi and they said it didn't work on the 5th floor which is why they hadn't given me the code. I asked for the code anyway and it ended up working if you stay at the desk.
“Pointe Rivoli”
“Not as advertised”
The hotel is not even close to what it is shown in the web page. The photos don't represent the actual status of the Hotel. Too expensive for the quality offered. The staff was rude when presenting problems with the bathroom. There is no elevator and the stairs are a nightmare, with the uneven steps is very hard to carry your luggage.
