"Overall good value for the money, but the management gave up on the beach upkeep. Seaweed is a known problem in Mexico but in most places hotel at least tries to clean it up. We were hoping to spend some time on the beach but were quite disappointed. Also, Palace Elite is VERY pushy in offering their membership, which completely smashed our desire to come back to any Palace hotels. "

"This was my family’s first time staying at Riu Palace Riviera Maya and we LOVED it! The staff was attentive, and all very nice. The food, for an all-inclusive, was great (I know a lot of people complain about the food at these places but you can’t expect Michelin quality food out of buffets). "Mahekal is a beautiful resort. The lush foliage and palapa “cabins” make you feel like you’re a million miles away from everything, but it’s very convenient to great restaurants. It was peaceful and serene. The staff are all amazing, especially Meraz, Claudia and Jesus Brito in the Revive Spa. The hammocks in the balcony are just an added bonus. If looking for a party scene or on-property nightlife, this isn’t the place."
