"This resort is amazing and the people that work there are what makes the resort spectacular. From the time we arrived to check-in, Nayeli at reception was so welcoming and personable that she made us feel like we were right where we belonged for our vacation. After drinking the champagne we were given at reception, we then met with concierge to select our dining & excursions. Paola was great at searching for all the available specialty restaurants to reserve our spots for the days we were there. This was great to do ahead of time because it allowed us to plan our activities. We booked our excursion at Xplor at the hotel & it was the best decision. The price, ease, and hospitality of the gentleman there was unmatched. Upon finishing up with concierge, the bell-hops took us via shuttle to our rooms. The food was yummy at the buffet style snack area, for breakfast, and everywhere else we ate. The staff were very accommodating & there was no shortage of staff. The "Luxury" in the resort's name I think is meant for the way the staff treats the guests & waits on them because it's unmatched. Specialty restaurant Ku'uk was my favorite of the ones we tried. The decor is outstanding, the service was excellent, and the food was great. Breakfast at Katok was my favorite spot, the healthy options, mimosas, and yummy food. The decor in this restaurant & views are unbelievable. Right by the adults only infinity pool, across from the beach - just wow. Excellent resort!!! "

"This is a smaller resort but we really enjoyed how relaxing it was and more importantly how close it is to the sea turtles! We made the short walk down the beach and got guided snorkeling tour where we saw 3 different big sea turtles. It was only $25 per person to do this. The food was definitely above average and we didn’t have any trouble getting a table for our party of 6. No reservations are required. The rooms were very nice. Our A/C didn’t get as low as we set it, but it was cool enough to sleep. We would definitely return again. "

"Great value for your dollar! Expedia VIP granted us an upgraded bracelet to allow us into the neighbouring resort. Highly recommended this as the food at Coba is mediocre, the Akumal resort however had amazing food. On par with premium Vegas buffets. VIP premium also got us a free bottle of Tequila to take home. The entertainment was excellent. We saw the Blackbird show and were very impressed. AC at Coba doesn't go bellow 20•C which can be rough. Overall would highly recommend with the caveat that you get the upgraded bracelet. "

"Great property friendly staff with beautiful landscape. Staff went above and beyond with anything we asked for and always have a smile and never heard the word NO well we were there. Nice beach always open palapa to get chairs. We swam with turtles in front of the property everyday as well as seeing plenty of fish. Worth getting the preferred club. Room was clean and updated with great amendments. Had plenty of food options and portions were good. We have stayed at dozens of adults only all-inclusive and other Secrets. All and all this was one of the best ones we have been at. "

"Basically everything was perfect, we had an amazing experience and luckily we saw a sea turtle lying egg infront of out room, staff were very friendly, shout out to Tony the host was extremely helpful, the view of the property was amazing!!!"

"What a gem. Have stayed here about 5 times over the last 10 years. Beautiful ocean views. Easy access to the water. Pictures of property stand up over time. Staff are always great. If you can afford the up grade, I’d always stay in one of their ocean view rooms. It’s worth it. Affordable overall but you do need to be able to walk to dining locations or have a car to drive. Really close to akumal bay where you can snorkel, shop, eat. This reminds me of what Tulum use to be like before it became a tourist destination! Tulum is about 20 mins south and playa del Carmen is about 25 mins north of Akumal. "
