What you can expect

Prepare to walk beneath the world’s most famous ceiling on this 3-hour private tour of the Vatican Museums. Your engaging guide will take your on a tour through some of the 54 galleries to learn about the most important works in this museum, including a visit to St. Peter’s Basilica, all while skipping the lengthy lines.

The Vatican City—the world’s smallest countries—just happens to have one of its largest museums. The collections of sculptures, paintings, and historical objects accumulated by popes over the centuries include everything from da Vinci to van Gogh. You’ll likely visit major works including Raphael’s ‘Transfiguration’ and the ‘Laocoön’ Sculpture. The whole time, however, you’ll be holding your breath for the tour’s highlight, Michelangelo’s iconic painting on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Stretch your neck beforehand and gaze up at this world-famous masterpiece while learning about the symbolism and Biblical stories depicted by the master artist.

You’ll also step into St. Peter’s Basilica, the world’s largest church where the Pope himself celebrates mass. You don’t need to be religious to appreciate the grandeur of this landmark, but it helps.
