What you can expect

Set off on a tour that takes you deep into the jungle, beyond the modern roads, and explore the picturesque Maya sanctuary of Uaxactun. Admire the well-preserved ancient pyramids, the ball court, and other relics of the ancient civilization's science and culture.

Make your way past Tikal, the region's most famous archaeological site, as you head into the dense jungle of Northern Guatemala. Upon reaching the last miles of Road 3, your expert guide leads you on a walking tour to the area's main landmarks.

Some of the standout sights include the Temple of the Masks, decorated with stucco carvings of famous rulers and sacred animals such as jaguars, turtles, eagles, and parrots. Uaxactun is one of the very few Maya settlements where you can find traces of the original red paint that used to cover the temples.

Proceed to Complex E to discover the ancient observatory, a symbol of the Maya civilization's advanced astronomy skills. Next, take some time to explore the ruins on your own, passing by the ball court before savouring a lunch nearby.
