Description

Discover the darker side to Munich's 20th-century history. Learn of the birth and development of the Nazi party with a tour of the most significant sites. Your expert guide is on hand to provide an essential historical perspective as you witness how the area has rebuilt itself and emerged as a brighter more positive city

Emerging from WWI was a broken Munich, ravaged by hyperinflation and the humiliation of defeat. Learn how Adolf Hitler and his Nazi party took full advantage of the instability to rise to power. Visit Odeonsplatz, home to the Feldherrnhalle, and the location of one of the clashes between state police and Nazi supporters as they sought to gain control of Bavaria.

Uncover the story behind the White Rose group – whose members peacefully opposed Hitler’s dictatorship – and honour their struggle at the memorial in the Hofgarten. A dark era in Germany’s recent history, see how Munich has risen from the ashes and recaptured its beauty and magnificence from its previous, more illustrious past.

The guide (Michael Berg) was excellent and the sites seen were important. I would like to have seen where Hitler lived and where Kurt Eisner was assassinated. Overall informative well balanced and educational.

Interesting and historical tour. Although the weather was very hot, our guide worked to keep us in the shade. He was very knowledgeable. The downfall was that we did not finish the tour at our starting location. Since we are not German, this was a bit challenging to find our way back.
