The spirit of the Wild West comes to life at the Calgary Stampede. During this 10-day celebration, experience world-class rodeo, exciting chuckwagon races, great entertainment, bull-riding and a chance to shop for authentic western wares.

On your first day, get ready for heart-thumping, white-knuckle action at the world's roughest and rowdiest rodeo. Watch as professional wranglers ride bulls, barrel race, go bareback and showcase their cowboy strength, with activities like tie-down roping and steer wrestling.

The next day, experience the power of the GMC Rangeland Derby. The world’s top chuckwagon race and a Calgary Stampede original, this event sends 36 teams of horses and drivers sprinting around the track. The evening is topped off with the music, stunts and pyrotechnics of the TransAlta Grandstand Show, plus a fireworks finale that lights up the sky.

Various local and international talents take to the stage throughout the events, including Calgary’s Stampede Showband, one of the world’s finest marching ensembles. Between shows, make sure to visit the Indian Village for a look at the colourful heritage of the First Nations, immersing yourself in cooking demonstrations, tepee-raising, dance and games.

Check out displays on agriculture with hands-on activities to explore life on the farm, then head to the barns for a guided tour that takes you up-close to the livestock and animals that, after the wranglers, are the stars of the show.
