Description

Get up close with stingrays right from the beach during your Stingray Encounter. The Southern Stingray can grow up to four feet in diameter and you can meet them on Balmoral Island.

Upon arrival on the island, you are greeted by the staff, given a short orientation, and then start your stingray encounter. After filling out the required paperwork and waiver, your guide provides facts on the winged animals and what to expect. Then, walk into the waist deep water to spot your first stingray. For approximately 30 minutes, your trainer introduces you to the ray, letting you pet, feed, and even hold it for a photo that can be purchased later.

The rest of the day is yours to enjoy a private island experience. Staff will direct you towards the beach with rows of inviting sun loungers, dotted with umbrellas for shade and a perfect beach day. There is something to do for everyone; swim, splash, play in the ocean, beach games, volleyball, Ping-Pong, browse the boutique, enjoy a cool cocktail – it’s really up to you. Complimentary noodles, inner tubes, kid’s toys and free WIFI is available on the island. You can also rent floats, paddle boards or snorkel gear to discover the waters just off shore.

There are two swimming pools and private cabanas which are rented based on availability, plus many themed bars, The Market Place serves delicious food, a kid’s menu and find a Starbucks for any coffee enthusiasts. Scheduled ferries run in the afternoon back to Nassau.

After waking up early, ordering a taxi and walking three blocks we arrived at senor frogs for pick up. When we arrived, a woman was fighting with her boyfriend. After waiting for a half hour for our ferry, we decided to start asking around where the appropriate pick up was, being told it was exactly where we were in the hot sun. Another half hour passes and finally, the woman who was fighting with her boyfriend told us our ferry and excursion was cancelled. Overall, we waited in the hot sun for over an hour to hear a woman fight with her boyfriend then tell us it was cancelled. Completely unprofessional.

Very personable event. Great scenic view. Because your on an island, pricey stuff. Be prepared to PAY some money for the pictures. Hey, its part of the deal. Worth the money.
