Description

Walk along the charming streets of Santo Domingo, hear about the foundation of this historic city and wander around stunning examples of 15th-century architecture. The Colonial Zone is a fascinating place to explore the past of the Americas, with a knowledgeable guide leading the way.

Meet near the Alcázar de Colón, once a castle for royalty, now a striking museum full of fascinating artefacts and exhibits. Embark along the centuries-old thoroughfare – Calle Las Damas – and arrive at the National Pantheon. The striking edifices of this amazing mausoleum were built in the mid-18th century, as part of a Jesuit church.

At the Parque Colon, take a break and hear stories about the celebrations and festivals that fill this red brick square during national holidays, and snap photos of weather-worn stones of the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor. As you walk, your guide is there to answer any questions you have about the city, providing you with exciting tales and intriguing facts.

Take the chance to pick up a few memorable souvenirs from the talented artisans at the Colonial market and walk along the seaside as you head to the grounds of the National Palace, where the country’s president and vice-president have offices. Grab a few final photos in front of the stately columns before heading back to your starting point. Or, extend your day at a local theatre featuring The Colonial Gate, a thrilling and immersive 4D film highlighting the dramatic past of this famous city.
