Description

Set off for Sandakan for a full day of adventure exploring the second-largest city in the state. Tour the impressive orangutan sanctuary for an up-close encounter with the fascinating animal and make stop at other points of interest at the market, observation point, and a water village.

Bright and early a driver provides a transfer from your hotel to the airport for a quick flight to Sandakan. Travel to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center, the world's largest sanctuary for the animal. Here, the orphaned or captured young orangutans are slowly reintegrated back into the wild and you have the opportunity to witness the animals in their natural habitat.

Make a stop for lunch at a local restaurant and continue on with the tour itinerary. You tour around the city and visit the Central Market and observation point. Finally, make a stop at a Chinese temple and a water village before taking a relaxing flight back to Kota Kinabalu.

Azmi was a fantastic guide, very knowledgable and enthusiastic . He was born in Sandakan and knew all the history and interesting anecdotes . We saw the Sepilok Orangutan sanctuary, the Sun bears, the food market, the ChineseTemple, the English Anglican Church and the extraordinary water village where people live under the most incredible conditions . Throughout our tour both Azmi and our driver were courteous and attentive . We had a marvellous day and would recommend this trip without hesitation . Thankyou for great memories.

Excellent tour with very knowledgeable and informative guide. Highly recommended. We saw lots of orangutans and learned about the conservation efforts in Sabah. Only issue is the tour information does not state that you must pay and book your flight separately. Everyone on the tour presumed the price of tour included airfare because it did not state that airfare was not included. Air flights are fairly cheap on no frills carriers in Asia so it should have stated that airfare was not included. The tour does pick you up and drop off from your hotel. Airfare r/t was around l50 ringgats.

Tours should be centred on Orangutans and Sun Bear visits and leave out markets, temple and village part but definitely finish with one hour at Australian War Memorial gardens Well done Jake on a great day
