Mount Bromo is the most iconic and hiked mountain in Indonesia. It is still one of the most active volcanoes in the world and there are many sections that are blocked off from tourists. On the first day you'll head straight to Bromo and stay in the surrounding Tosari village where you will get a safety briefing and kit check ahead of the trek, then the rest of the evening is free to do as you please.
On the second day, you will start early as your guide leads you to trek Mount Penanjakan, where you can stand at the highest viewpoint and witness the spectacular sunrise. Standing at this peak allows you to see the beautiful scenery of Mount Bromo and Mount Semeru all at once.
The mountainside trekking takes 20-minutes on foot to reach Bromo volcano, so make sure that you have appropriate shoes and a good level of fitness. You will then be taken back by 4×4 jeep to your hotel for some breakfast, a shower and to pack. If you have enough time, you will stop by the Madakaripura waterfall on the way back to Surabaya from Bromo. Following this, you will be taken back to your destination in Surabaya.
