What you can expect

Stand amid the luxuriant foliage of rare and exotic plants in the Mortella Gardens. Find out how the gardens were created and take part in a tour of the lush green Ischia Island. Unlike its volcanic neighbour Capri, the island is Greek in ambiance, with sandy beaches and brightly coloured houses.

Whether or not you're green-fingered, you can't help but be impressed by the enchanting Mortella Gardens. Taking its name from the evergreen bush, myrtle, the gardens were founded in 1956 by English composer Sir William Walton and are now maintained by his widow Susana. Extending to over 4 acres (16,000 sq m) the gardens offer stunning views over the island and include a glasshouse that holds the world's largest waterlily, Victoria amazonica.

The rest of your day is spent exploring the beautiful island. Take in the stunning views of the rugged coastline and soak up the sun as you wander around its quaint streets and squares before hopping back on the hydrofoil for your scenic journey across the Bay of Naples to Sorrento.
